Hello, mu friends here! Next of my objects here will be the bats. Some people are afraid of them, but they look so nice.

The pictures here are done in 2009 year, by a project running by my self together with colleges from Germany. All project activities were in accordance with a permit issued by The Ministry of Environment and Water of Bulgaria.

Our team had the chance to discover 4 new species of bats for Strandja natural park. I would like to show you some nice photos here :)

Leisler's bat (Nyctalus leisleri)
Bechstein's bat (Myotis bechsteinii)
Greater mouse-eared bat (Myotis myotis)
In Bulgaria we have 33 from 35 Europea bat species.
The Western barbastelle (Barbastella barbastellus)
Taking samples.
Our work was also supported by virologists from The university of Bonn. We collected thousands of samples - bat shit :) a few years later I was invited to be part of a scientific article that was published in the journal Nature. It is about so poorly known in our days coronaviruses:
