Tokyo Night Walk #3 Nostalgia City

in #proofofbrain18 days ago

The holidays are here and Tokyo is beginning to get into the festive spirit. It's a great time to wander around the city at night and see what there is to see. Let's go!

Let's start off at Sakura Zaka(Cherry blossom hill).

It's a popular spot that lights up in fall, just across the street from Shibuya station. Even after 24 years, I love to walk up and down the street. It's very nostalgic because it's one of the first places I stepped foot in after arriving in Tokyo for the first time all those years ago.

It's special place in the heart of Tokyo.

Moving on, let's head over to the station.

Of course we have to stop by Shibuya Crossing for the obligatory shot.

Here is what it looked like 24 years ago in 2001.

Moving to the back alleys, this used to be the area that had two famous record stores, Hot Wax and Cisco Records. It was a lively with DJs and music lovers.

My Dj partner and I would set up a booth on some weekends blasting our DnB mixes and selling our CDs right here.

Back then the restaurant wasn't there, it was a different restaurant, but there was a steel rail there and the entrance was different.

Now, the record stores are long gone and all the establishments are restaurants or cafes.

Looking back from Harajuku the city is behind us.

But the city never ends in Tokyo and Shinjuku is in front of us. So until next time, enjoy your nightwalk and thanks for reading!

All photos, except 2001 Shibuya, taken with my iPhone 12 and put through a vintage filter.

Sending you some Ecency curation votes!

Thank you Melinda. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.

It was lovely and the family all made it safely back to their homes before the snowstorm began. The meal was fantastic. I have raised a family of good cooks! Hope your's was delicious, too.

Glad to hear. Hope the snowstorm eases. Maybe send some our way!

We got 15 inches of snow. Another storm arriving tomorrow, but only an inch more is expected. I'd be happy to send you some!

Such a lovely place, feel like it definitely want to make my way there one day.
