This is the best topic I have seen here so far.
There is always a solution for everything.
The solution to this question will pave a way for the cryptocurrency new world in coming generation though it will also have a great disadvantage.
The activities that is illegal that is done by crypto resist the legalization of cryptocurrency but the crypto world is so powerful that it's overshadowing the Fiat currency and other form of money but it's still like an obstacle.
There is a way out
The way out is that there should be creation of another system entirely that is centralized but not like banks in collections of huge transaction fee but in verification and attachment of your cryptocurrency wallet to your identity.
So if there is a illegal transaction, though the transaction won't be stopped but the xender and the receiver would be known.
It's been a while for me being in this community #pobstreet.
Centralizing a decentralized organization is not a good idea though it's possible to centralizing a decentralized organization in other to take control of illegal activities in crypto world and that's a good advantage.
Solving and reducing fraud but increasing being cheated by the third-party system like how our money is being controlled and used in banks anytime they want.
The concept of blockchain that is a cryptocurrency being decentralized is the reason why cryptocurrency is influential and the reason why cryptocurrency will rule the world

Yes the value of cryptocurrency is it's decentralized form
There is always a way out for everything and there is always a solution to every problem.
Creating a world exchange sites for cryptocurrency with real identity like binance will centralised and decentralized organization.
There are sometimes that binance do have control of your wallet and can seize your withdrawal at anytime they want that's the disadvantage of centralised Organization with third party.
The only thing that can be done to avoid fraud in this decentralized platform pob community is that there should be real identity attached verified to every wallet as @iyiade said.

Attachment of real identity to a wallet does not mean it's centralised or does not mean they have control over any people's asset, do they won't be able to stop anyone transaction or take out of the person asset or take charges do you let in the just have to do is just attached identity so anyone who want to open a crypto wallet we'll have to open it with his real identity and that will not stop him from opening multiple wallet but his identity must just be attached to it and his phone number details and so on.
That can be done by creating another system and attach it to the block chain.

Creating another body add attachment to the blockchain technology will do that better.
It will make a cryptocurrency decentralized with full of security without being centralised and if an illegal transaction take place it won't be stopped but it will be traced to the person who Transact illegally or for illegal business
Cryptocurrency decentralization is a useful tools of we getting back the power stole from us and giving us our right and privacy to do what we want and not to be monitored and controlled over your asset.
I don't really think there is a solution to centralizing a decentralized organization and that's because a decentralized organization is already decentralized and can't be controlled by other people anymore except you signed it yourself.
There is now a new internet technology blockchain based that is a decentralized form of internet activities were hive and pob is built on that is WEB3.
Web3 is gradually taking over web2 and the difference is WEB3 is decentralized while WEB2 is centralized.
So decentralization will take over the world activities sooner or later so there is no reason for centralizing a decentralized organization

Yes, proper checks and balances can help to avoid any kind of fraud. There should be no intervention of the government though, the entire concept of the crypto would fade away if the governments start to intervene.

No doubt somewhere in Decentralization people use it dur illegal purpose and that is not good, they misuse the anonymity and true purpose of Decentralization. Decentralization is much of a responsibility than a luxury and if not used with proper care could be destructive. I would not say Centralization is the only solution for this but these need to be a solution to track the end user of the transaction or final beneficiary. This should not limit online transactions and ease of payments or services, higher transactions fees etc after that's the main advantage of cryptocurrencies i.e. ease to accessibility. But the big transactions where the end user cash out the cryptocurrency to fiat could be validated with proper identification and security checks. Anyone earning legal cryptocurrency should not have any problems with it and it could definitely lower the illegal transactions. Also not to forget there is lot of money laundering and tax evasion is going on with cryptocurrencies which in a way affecting the global economy in a bad way. Cryptocurrency should be a means to financial freedom and eae of transactions, it should definitely not a tool or weapon to finance terrorism and Illegal activities. 😊🙏

I don’t agree with centralisation of crypto at all, that’s the basic definition and if it gets centralised, it will mean losing the soul purpose of trading in crypto.
But yes, at the same time, I also agree that decentralisation should not give rise to any illegal economic activities. To ensure that I think there should be 2 measures.

There is probably a solution to centralizing a decentralized organization in other to take control of illegal activities in crypo in the sense that,if solution is provided there will be reduction of illegal activities being carried out in crypto world.people can carry out any activity without having being afraid of illegal transactions.

Of recent have always been having a separate opinion when it comes to discussion and issue and let me also say that I might not be adding much to today's topic.
Technically giving Freedom to decentralized organization to become centralized to me won't totally brings an end to the illegal transaction and deal in the crypto world,cause base on my believe I still want to assume that some of the illegal transaction done before too will still be moved there by that same set of individuals.
I think the question should be , what measure can be put in place to actually brings and end to illegal transaction in the crypto world.

It is my opinion that a purely decentralized organization can not exist in tribal human society. You can get close to it, yes? A perfect example of that is the Hive blockchain. However, it's too natural of a process for humans to congregate into one click or another. I'm just a newcomer when compared to others, even in Hive, you have groups and communities that form to control their own form of discussions.
A potential solution is to create additional groups like Hive Watchers or Hive Downvote Rewards and focus on different forms of fraud. The organization formed can share their information on investigations and activities with the hopes of streamlining processes that can improve the platform and combat fraud.
