STEEMIT AS A GAME CHANGER IN NIGERIA

in #promo-steem7 years ago (edited)

Hello steemians, I'm @raymondbruce the founder of steemit_extention. For today I'll be talking about how steemit can change the game play here in my country Nigeria.

I'll start by saying Nigeria is not a productive nation, we depend on other developed nations dot eventually everything and I'll say that is the major reason for our underdevelopment.

The major sector of the Nigeria economy is the oil sector it provides about 90% of our export earning and as the price of oil keeps dropping our economy keeps shaking if nothing is done, agriculture was our major source of export earning before oil was discovered in Nigeria.

Rostow's outlined five stages of economic development, saying every developed economy passed through this stages and for an economy to be developed it has to pass through same stages which are

  • Traditional society

  • Preconditions for take-off

  • Take-off

  • Drive to maturity

  • Age of high mass consumption

personally I won't place Nigeria in any of this stages of development, Nigeria jump started and that is what is really affecting our economic growth, we are in the stage of high consumption presently while we are not a producing nation, we haven't driven to maturity( age of selfsustainability) , yet we import more than we export.

HOW STEEMIT COMES IN PLAY

Because of the current fall in oil price, it has lead to increment in price in 98% of our commodities and there by causing resection in the economy which has in turn increased the crime rate in the nation and also increased the rate of unemployment. Popular saying an idle man is the devil's workshop, because of the scarcity of job in the nation youth tends to do what they find easy to survive.
Most of these youths are people with vision, people with ideas but because of the scarce means to implement their ideas they tend to let go of it and get a job, on seeking a job, no firm is willing to employ them because no funds to pay much workers( the aim of every firm is to make profit) and a rational business man won't risk it.

Steemit has given us the opportunity to earn from blogging, to earn from what we know. So steemit in Nigeria can reduce the crime rate and also increase our export earning.

HOW?
We don't earn much from export because we are not a producing nation, we totally depend on oil. With steemit providing the means required to a talented Nigerian steemian ,he will be able to use it for his project and has such not waiting for the miracle that may never come, with the earning from steemit he/she can start producing which in turn will help the Nigeria economy and also reduce the crime rate over in Nigeria.

I advise all Nigerian Steemians to become involved in the promotion of Steemit here in Nigeria, so we can pass the good news of Steemit around, contributing to the development of our country.

THANKS FOR YOUR AUDIENCE

@raymondbruce, I like this article because it shares your thoughts and personal perspective as one who is on the ground there, and a member of this current generation of Nigerians.

You speak from experience, and it is more powerful than if you had pulled together a bunch of research facts and data that anyone searching the internet could find. There is a place for that kind of article, to be sure, but there is a place for this kind, as well.

I have one quick English language skills improvement suggestion for you:

I'll advice all Nigerian steemians to involve in promotion of steemit here in Nigeria, so we can pass the good news of steemit round and in turn contribute to the development of our country
