Steemit Vs Unemployment in Uganda

in #promo-steem7 years ago (edited)

Could steemit be a solution for unemployment problem in Uganda? This question came to my mind last week as Makerere University students were graduating. In Uganda, almost forty thousands students graduate each year. This statistics made me run crazy. It made be realize that actually its not the illiterate that cause poverty in the country but in fact the university graduate. In most cases, these are the same people that cry for help and leads the country in unnecessary strikes.

No one of us has ever wished to be unemployed and this act can lead the country to various nefast actions such as theft and parasitism from some of the citizens. Should we blame the education system? Or the people ? I don't actually think. The point is only few people always grab the opportunity. In Uganda there are some funny slogans that move in the country '' Government etuyambe, meaning the government should help us. People are actually pleading for the government to give them jobs. In other words, the people have the knowledge and the expertise but selling them for almost free. People are all having dreams of working in big offices, near a cup of tea and every other pleasure that they imagine can be, while forgetting that only very few people can reach to the level in the country.

If you look at the Uganda statistics, among the forty thousands graduates, the country only absorbs less than four thousands. Now imagine being part of the four thousands selected without forgetting that there are those others that did graduate two, three or four years back. If i'm bringing these analysis, its because I know what unemployment means in Africa, specifically in Uganda. In Uganda, many students are sent from their villages. In other words, the whole house, family and even village members are all waiting for your support. Some graduates even decide to remain in towns and forget about their villages cause going back can be a shame in their villages.

Most people are unemployed. I mean these people can't even afford their daily expenses and are just over used by privates or public companies that give them almost nothing. The worse part is that these people are now deciding to risk their lives by trying to cross Africa and work in America, Europe and even Asia. It's sounds bad when you hear a University graduate is a slave in Libya or a housemaid in Qatar or Abhudhabi. Friends I do feel bad. Then why did they study, if they knew that things would end up like this?

Take a look on refugee that try to cross outside Africa, most of them have studied and some are even graduates. What could be the reason? Off course they are unemployment and can not afford to live a moderate life. But if we provide a way for them to live and start with little? This is the question that pushes me to write this article. Bill gates once said '' If you were born poor that's not your fault, but if you die poor that will be your fault'' This means that we have the ability to change this world. We are the change that the world long to see. We are the people that were meant to take on opportunities.

If steemit can bring you just 1 steem dollar, then why can't you join? I do ask my friends. Why should you cry for food yet you can make some little money while blogging. Steemit has just a simple formula '' post and earn. Period.'' I mean no stress or sweat and just speaking your heart and mind. Telling people about what you know and what you can contribute to the society. Simple as that.

Last week, Makerere University awarded degrees to thirteen thousands students. Oh my God, I just felt like, where are all these people going? Who is going to employ all of these people”? I just felt like may be I can do something to help. I did inbox each of my friends to congratulate them but also to join steemit and start earning little. Some of them responded and others didn't, but surely they will come after a little while. Most of them are still happy and optimistic, but CV's and placement letters will work for few, I'm sure they will come.

I'm not saying this to wish anyone bad luck but its our responsibility to project our future, to draw a picture of who we shall be in future time. Some of my friends who joined steemit 6 month back are now planning to buy a land or properties. These are the people that do encourage me also to work hard and be someone in the future. I believe in the power of steemit and I know that blogging can solve unemployment problem in Uganda. Our parents long to see us supporting them in their old days. They need some sugar from us and at least some suits for Sundays and village parties. That's all they want in Africa.

Let's give a try to steemit and try to motivate others to join. My job is to write articles and sending them to various social medias such as whatapp groups, facebook and other means to try helping the local community. I have started earning slowly and I would not wish to be quite. I believe that everyone can also do so. Everyone need to know what is happening in Uganda or around the world and this the place to do so.

Let's keep encouraging newbies. I did also joined 34 days back and I do keep pushing forward with steemit. I'm not payed for doing these promos but if you fall on good things you eventually share it with your friend. We should stop this habit of asking help from the government and in fact support government projects. We are steemit, the solution to African unemployment problems.

Hey jona12,

You are right and I am happy someone from youth is talking and thinking about it. No one will come and solve your problems. Everyone will have to fight for his problem on his on.
Now just imagine if they come on steemit and start using it for different purposes. Some for community service, some for development on steem blockchain, some for video tutorials, some for lifestyle blogging and so on.

yeah...you are right....our governments can not satisfy our own and all wishes but i believe with steemit we can reach far

Yes, that's true. The thing is you can not rely on government or anyone else. You will have to do it for you on your own.

hey i'm new aswell at Steemit and already made my 2 low volume posts , but i'll keep posting since i find writing relaxing and i don't even knew it . I hope the best for you and that you can create the future you deserve and hope . Peace from Greece .

P.S. you have a new follower :)

Warm welcome @baronos
I love your concern for the people to come out of poverty! I hope the best for you and that you can create the future you deserve and hope

thank you big time

Thank you so much Brother. Im glad to hear that from you. Let's all keep promoting steemit. i believe its the right place to be

Hey pal, I sincerely wish you all the best in Uganda. Life can be tough. Even tougher for the youth who worked hard to finish their studies and fueled by the dream that it'll be a way for them to get out of poverty, but instead they are enslaved by private companies once more.

I believe that platforms such as Steemit can be the solution to poverty and employment. I also do believe that more platforms like this will emerge in the future. Anyway, let's all just hope for the best. Cheers!

but how do people in third world countries convert steem tokens back to fiat? whether we like it or not, we still need to use fiat to pay our bills and to buy foods. I live in third world country myself and my government ban cryptocurrencies to buy anything even though we are still allowed to invest in cryptos

It's still hard and it has so many charges. we do first send them in bitcoin wallet then to mobile money accounts through various local exchange such as bitpesa

I believe that platforms such as Steemit can be the solution to poverty and employment. I also do believe that more platforms like this will emerge in the future
Indeed and i believe uganda will rise out of this issue of asking the governmet for jobs.

yeah....i believe that one day things will be better for all of us.

amen, in Jesus mighty name

Everyone! Jona12 is going to change Uganda. It is people who have minds like this gentleman that CAN change the world! He has a bigger voice then he knows! He sounds like he is already speaking for his people. I am saddened to hear that it is so hard for people in other countries to obtain a job that helps to change their lives and their families lives, but you are right Jona - Steemit can help - every cent counts! I wish you the best of luck Jona. I wish I could do more to help!

yeah...if i was able able to gain something from steemit, then i believe everyone also can do so

Absolutely correct! Bro
Unemployment is a huge cankerworm in Africa unfortunately lots of folks are just enthused with Government jobs.
Can't remember who said this:

Do not think of what the government can do for you. Think rather of what you can do for the government.

Surely would resteem this post

Right.. All youths want the goveenment to provide for them jobs. Also wanted and searched for government job, but they are full of bribes and corruption.
With steemit, my vision of self employment is beming a reality and isee the light and am telling .

It is true that we should stop asking help from the government...We can make the change in our lives ourselves...

Nice post jona...keep it up i have a similar post this morning on dtube too..promoting steemit in Affrica...

True brother..unemployment really a cancer. Like you said every one is asking the goverment for help but no one is willing to help th government. My opinion is senstizing our fellow youths especially the graduates.
I grduated in 2015 with abachelors in agricriltural science but searched for jobs, found som which were full of manuplàtions, earning only 25$ a month but working 24/7.
Since i joined steemit on monday, i have been telling guys about it, others sign up and others as you said ignore...but soon we taking over uganda with steem😁

Glad for you bro and @jaraumoses the big man..Stay blessed!

I believe Steemit can reduce the high rate of unemployment in Uganda and other countries in Africa, if only people are ready to be educated about Steemit

yeah....its really hard for some people to understand steemit but i believe that slowly people will get to know about it

Those are some troubling and amazing statistics. I wish I could say those who can reach us would be welcome here in the USA, but not so sure about that right now. Well, one thing is sure, you're doing well with this post, congrats! @markrmorrisjr

Thank you so much @markmarrisjir. I hope that one day Africa will also reach to that level, but also you should try one day to visit us

I would love to. My in laws just went on a safari last year, part of it in Uganda. The pictures and stories they brought back were amazing. best of luck, my friend.

I'm not able to do much on disability and I've felt I have no purpose for years. Steemit is exciting and I hope I can learn enough to be able to make content someone else could be helped by, I just don't know what.

My church actually just went to Uganda to help them build a church. I was really happy to teach them about cannabis oil and I was able to get CBD oil to their local doctors.

Steemit can bring back hope to a lot of people I believe. It means a lot to me if it does work out, even if I'm just part of the community. I wish there was a chat room to talk with others.

wauhhh....it's really my great pleasure to hear that. im really speechless and i do believe that i will start helping people soon, not only by telling them to join steemit but by bringing something to the community.

awesome, take responsibility ourselves and crave our own future. Keep doing the content jona

I realy wish your country the best just like mine.!

yeah... i hope so. where do you live?

I live in Mexico

Excellent @jona12 using creativity and intelligence to earn sustenance and that each one takes it to its rhythm is a dream come true, Steemit has achieved that invaluable power in space, so that we can through our talent obtain different achievements, recognition of the community, to be able to expose our talent and how you mentioned it to be able to change the world with each one of our perspectives.

That's true. we should be able able able to use ur brain to make things happen.

Thanks again

Trying to help others to do blogs here on steemit actually showing that you are not a selfish person.

Let's fight the unemployment among graduates in Uganda

This could probably be the best decision you made in your life. I am new to steemit aswell I have 2 videos on my channel I just wish I could somehow get views on them. But will keep trying. Tnx

This is a great post and hits the nail squarely on the head: "People are all having dreams of working in big offices, near a cup of tea and every other pleasure that they imagine can be ..."
That about sums up the dominant mental attitude inspired by educational systems of today (which prepare few of us for living tomorrow). i am following you, and would like very much for you to do the same.
