Did we trend??
Sadly, no.
Did the Steem / SBD price go up?
Well, it didn't go down over the past 60 minutes, but compared to normal volatility, their was no substantial price impact directly from the Thunderclap Twitter campaign.
The good
We made it to 100+ participants! That's a milestone, without that, there would not have been a Thunderclap for Steem today. There was amazing support from the Steem community, I cannot name them all here, but it was incredible to see so many Steemians rally behind the good cause. The GIF presented well on Twitter (this was a doubt in my mind all along, since as far as I know Thunderclap does not support GIF so I had to rumble a bit with Twitter sources, but that worked! The qualities of the Steem blockchain were highlighted in 55 countries, in 226 cities to about 750 000 people !!!
This is awesome, thank you all so much!!

The bad
Focusing on making the GIF work for Twitter turned out to have a downside too, on Facebook, the message wasn't as concise and graphical as we'd hoped for. Also both on Twitter and Facebook, the links pointing to Steemit were not perfect, they should all have been pointing to a direct sign up page. A third point to consider is the timing of the Thunderclap, was 3PM CET the very best time to burst, that's 6 AM Los Angeles time and 11 PM in Seoul.

Conclusion
It's a bit too early for a final conclusion. Lessons were learned, moderate successes have been reached. This was a first initiative to get the Thunderball rolling. Maybe this should be organized by a Steemian with higher rep and more followers, maybe a small team should be formed where we can have more expertise on delivering a maximally powerful message in an even more professional way, maybe we should have support from the Steemit team or maybe I should just do it again, hoping the support will be as good as this time and working on the details myself. Also, we're going to have to keep an eye on incoming web-traffic to Steem in the coming days. It's still very possible that we'll see an upswing as a result of this campaign.
Important
If you have any suggestions, please do drop those here in the comments. I would love to brainstorm further with all of you and see how we can optimize and collaborate going forward with these Thunderclaps. Because:
awesome work, well done. I took part and will do again :-)
Sincerely: You identified barriers to success; next step is considering how to triumph over those barriers, then re-implement your plan and re-engage!

Re-group and re-initiate 👍
You've got my support brother!Well done @fitzgibbon!
Well done for organising it… let's see! At the very least it will have spread a little awareness, so the next time will have even more impact!
well done everyone! sad that we didnt trend, but hey, every awesome initiative like this is a step forward so well done fitz for organising this. Chins up, keep the faith, keep steemdreemin' and the moons the limit :) x
Hi @fitzgibbon, happy to have been part of this.
I had not heard of Thunderclaps before but they seem like a very good idea.
Is there a cost involved? How often would we be allowed to do them?
Would it be feasible to do one a month?
Could we say that on the 10th of every month a thunderclap goes out... maybe trying different times of the day each time?
Maybe a Thunderclap team could be formed so we can each take the message out to our individual communities. Happy to be part of that if you need any help.
Incredible. 3/4ths of a MILLION people?? Wow. Way to go. I wouldn't be surprised if we DID trend, and they're just hiding it. Steem is comin for them. I almost don't blame em.
Thinking about applying the lessons learned soon. I feel 1 million social reach is do-able.
Enjoy the vote and reward!
Absolutely! You got this. That boom was thunderous though! You did incredible. Great job staying on it, and reaching all those lightning rods.
"Archers!!! Readyyyyy. FIRE TWEETS!!"
I see $100 as very possible!
Perhaps we didn't trend... but we march on!
It's too bad that we did not trend on Twitter, but the good news is that we did reach around 3/4th of a million people, so I bet we will get some extra sign-ups today. Thanks for organizing this event, @fitzgibbon! We need people like you here on Steemit, or else no one would know about it.
well done. at the end of the day a start is better than a rest. you learn over time what works and what does not, thunderclaps are good for getting an audiences view over to something else, they kinda need to be into the end result and all our collective twitter audiences expect different things so it's kinda like shouting from the rooftops at 3am -- some people will engage and some not. this was a great start, happy to work with you cultivating even more ways to make this have impact month on month. will support you as you do so regardless. again, well done.
be happy what you achieved , rome was not build in 1 day
Thanks for the great info
Happy that I am one of the participants in the @fitzgibbon initiative. The initiative has been reached 1,634 people through my social media accounts among the overall 7,48,654 social reach. Great that you find out what went wrong. Hope your next move will be even stronger and steemians be with you always for the community growth.
I am glad to be a part of this. I think you can run the campaign again at a later time using new info generated from what you've learned from this just-concluded campaign. There are more than enough #steemian to make our campaign trend. I believe we can to it.
yes @fitzgibbon we are with you and its your great mission with thunderclap i heard about thunder calp yesterday in cryptoctopuss post and i m really excited to see it hope it will get more success
Really good effort fitzgibbon! I mean incredibly good. I'm sure a large people know about Steem and Steemit that didn't yesterday. That has to be a good thing.
You should be commended for the hard work you put in. Thank you for it, I am sure you have helped the cause.
