STEEMIT VERSUS UNEMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA

in #promo-steem7 years ago

I decided to do something unusual from my area of specialty today even though the subject matter still rallies around my core. So today I will be writing on Steemit versus Unemployment in Nigeria. This will lead me to asking some thought provoking questions such as:

  1. Could steemit be the solution for unemployment in Nigeria?
  2. Could steemit be a dream come true for a young entrepreneur who has been seeking for seed capital to kick start his venture?

This questions came to my mind when I stumbled on an article on unemployment and the trouble is causing many. And at the same time see graduate troop out of the university walls, going through the National Youth Service Scheme.

In NIgeria over twenty-five thousand graduates leave the four walls of the university each year, this statistics is frightening and makes me go crazy. There are no available jobs to accommodate them, crime is on the high such as armed robbery, kidnapping and what have you. Now the university does not teach this people how to make money, they only thought them how to read, write, pass exams which is the reason many only know how to write resume and not create job, but that is not what I am here for today. This now made me understand that illiteracy is not the ability of a man not to be able to read and write rather it is the inablity of a man to maximise the awesome power of his creative mind. This menace is the reason many in government cannot even make right decision and draw out a favourable policy that will push the nation forward.

All this leads to high level of unemployment because when systems are not put in place there will not be human resources to run it.

None of us ever wished to be unemployed, I have first hand taste of it till the creative man in me woke up. This issue is the reason there is a high level of brain drain in Nigeria, Is the reason many are becoming so desperate to move abroad and eventually falling into the hands of human traffickers and slavery like in the case of Libya. It leads to crime and parasitism. When there is opportunity only a few grab it, and when you dont have connection OMO YOU ARE ON YOU OWN (Nigerian slang).

In Nigeria an average graduate is always crying for job, in other words, the graduate has the knowledge and expertise but selling them for almost free. That is why someone who spent the minimum of four years studying a course ends up collecting peenut as salary. Yet we call ourself Giant of Africa. People are all having dream of working in big offices such as Central Bank, Shell, Cheveron, Agip,Government Parastatals etc forgetting that only a very few can reach to the level in the country.

When you look at the Nigerian statistics, among the approximately twenty-five thousand graduates every year, the country only absorbs less than six thousand, now imagine the heart breaking figure.

This menace is not limited to Nigeria alone some African country are also quilty as charged on this subject matter. Like I earlier said because of this many are going abroad risking their lives by crossing Africa sometimes through the mediterranean sea or even through the sahara desert to work in America, Europe and even Asia. It sounds bad when you hear a university graduate is a slave in Libya or a housemaid in Qatar or Abhudhabi.

Steemians I feel real sobbered about this. Then why did they study, if they knew things would not work out as planned.
Now this is my own personal experience on this unemeployment saga, I developed an idea and enrolled for a Federal Government funding and took some training from several institutions. When it was time for funding they cooked up a bottleneck to frustrate my effort.

This is what motivated me to write this article when i stumbled on that material on unemployment in Nigeria. Bill Gates Once said " If you are born poor is not your fault, but if you die poor that will be your fault", I have always made a statement and I owe the govenment no apology for that and I quote "I WILL NEVER DEPEND ON THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT TO SURVIVE" This means that we have the inate ability to change our world. We are the change the world is looking for.

This alone inspired me to start up my company and start every training that will cause my life and those around me to be changed forever. Recently I was admitted into the Cohort 6 of the YOUNG AFRICAN LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE (West African Region) for Leadership and Entreprenuership training. This selection was made accross West Africa.

With steemit I see the future, I see my company funded and making my dream come true and also i will create jobs for many. Only with my creative mind I will pen down articles to make some money everyday via blogging.

To curtail this menace of unemployment lets talk to newbies some who will be the unemployed graduates who have nothing doing. I have been talking to some people online and offline. some have signed up and started earning and I really feel good about it. I am not paid for doing this promos but for the fact that someone earns to pay their bills I am fulfilled.

Lets all stop begging Government for job and rather support in building our communities and make it the heaven we want to see. We are steemians the solution to Africans high level of unemployment.

Thanks for reading this. I hope it steered somethings on your inside. Please if you find my work interesting; upvote, comment and resteem.

Hello @brightfame, i found your article inspiring. I must confess the Rate of unempolyment in nigeria is discouraging, alot of gradutes with first class and second class are found working as a gateman some are drivers of tyricycles why some are in to some mere Jobs that earn them peanuts. Most time some have no option than to Join illegal Business, this gives me sleepless night as an undergradute i wonder what will be my fate and that of my Coursemates. After struggling for four(4) years and spending lots of money in the process and then get an uppercut by unemployment in the country. Well Am happy i found steemit, although Am New here but Am approching it as a Business Cuz i wana be unempolyed, i cant depend on the government never. thanks alot u don a nice job

Wow amazing, good jobs @brightfame...

Thanks man.. I just have to coin out something to talk reality...

Great read. Nicely constructed. You've said it all. Need I say more? The situation of the country is just disheartening that finishing school, which Ofcourse ought to make one happy becomes scary because the next thought becomes what next? May God help us

Unemployment has eaten deep into the fabric of our country...the only way out is to help ourselves....by being self employed because government also needs help.

My dear! The goverment needs help.. We must have all necessary systems put in place in place..

@brightfame. This is a really inspiring article. Who knows, steemit might be the answer to the prayers of unemployed youths to end unemployment in Nigeria. We just need to get the news of steemit out there. Thank you.
