You could be a protagonist, if the story you write about the incident that happened to you. Or maybe your friend and whoever it is.

The protagonist in your basic writing is not necessarily a narrator, or he is always a "good person" in the story. Conversely, the protagonist is the one who can make decisions that encourage the story to be exciting.

Usually, to know the protagonist is to find one character that gives a lot of meaning to the story.

One more thing, when you have found the protagonist, then you will be more flexible and have more ideas to improve your basic writing earlier.
