Thanks for documenting your steps thus far.

If you've got an older computer, you might find that a Linux distribution would run better. It would also have everything you need to get conda or anaconda running beautifully.

If you're new to Linux and coming from Windows, Ubuntu is a good place to start. You'll find instructions to get going here:
