What is your coding music?

in #programming7 years ago

I have always listened to music when I code and it is common with many of the programmers I have worked with.

There is something about the way it turns off the outside world and lets me sink into the head space I need for code. My current top 10 coding albums are:

Death grips - No love deep web
Tool - Aenima
NIN - The fragile
Captain Beefheart - Trout mask replica (This is so out there)
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Deftones - White Pony
Shitkid - Fish
Shabazz Palaces - Black up
Moodie Black - Nausea
Screaming Females - Ugly

As you can see, there is a sort of loud theme in there.

Do you code with music? What is your top 10?

I am always on the look for artists I have never heard :)

Sort:

Dude I completely agree with tool, great band and a great album.

I like heavy stuff so more like Pantera and Metallica. But if im looking for something a little softer i go with pink floyd

Cheers and a great post!

Floyd Wish You Were Here is pure class :)

Saw Metallica here in Christchurch NZ few years back, epic stuff :)

If you like heavy and want something that might be out your comfort zone try Death Grips Takyon Not sure what you would describe them and every track is totally different but they do get a lot of following from metalheads. They have a lot of the complexity of metal but in a different way. Insane stuff :)

I also cannot go without music when programming...
I listen a lot to The Offspring, Rammstein, Fall Out Boy, Billy Talent...no favorites there, usually just whole albums but if I need some pump then Bullet For My Valentine - 4 Words :)

"To be honest" I got into deep house as background music to lifting and also coding tasks. It was part of the compilation of the local hackerspace.

I go through fazes, got deep into dubstep for a while and love electronic. The dark insanity of Aphex Twin is sooo good :)

Something about music makes it easier to get in the zone and focus on the project at hand. I personally am all about chillstep :)
