The world around us is in a dynamic state. It changes every single day. The only way for us to stay relevant in a dynamic world is by being compelling ourselves.
For example, you are not the same as you were yesterday, you have experienced the world one more day than the day before yesterday. Someone around the world made another breakthrough discovery. Some people died, and new children were born. The sea of knowledge has seen new waves. So much can happen within a 24 time period. So yeah, the world around us is in a dynamic state. If we want to keep up with a world that is continually changing, we have to bring change in our life. That’s how we stay relevant.
But how do you bring change? The answer is simple, by learning. You cannot change yourself or the world around you if you don’t know what to change and how to change, right? That’s where learning comes into play.
I will give you a simple example, in the ’90s, when the internet was still booming, most businesses were retailers and brick and mortars. People back then could not think of a world where the online business scheme will have dominance. Fast forward to 2020. Do I need to say anything? Most companies that could not transform their presence in the online world either perished or have meager revenue compared to the ones that have an active presence. Businesses that learned and appreciated the value the internet can bring are now seeing high growth. The same applies to individuals also. I’m not going to iterate a past example this time; instead, let’s just project ourselves into the future. With the rise of AI and automation, most of the simple, repetitive tasks can be automated. So, what will happen to those that were working in garments and manufacturing as well as other industries that have repetitive tasks? Well, it’s simple, they’ll have to learn a relevant skill to stay relevant. And, if they don’t do that, they will simply be out of jobs and soon find themselves irrelevant to society.
Now you got the answer. What is the only skill that matters? The only skill that matters is the ability to learn.
Happy learning and stay safe.
