The Mist of a Dream - Portrait Art

in #portrait7 years ago (edited)

My portrait. I like to draw with ordinary 4b pencil, some pictures come to life. This technique is easiest to master. This drawing took me 1.5 hrs.
I add detail to the eyes. Darken the top eye line and add two iris circles. Add pupils and darken, softly tone in iris. I then add upper eyes lids and look at both eyes togetter. I add two ovals for nostrils, and two curves for the sides of the nose. I find a good position for the bottom of the chin and redraw the jaw line. I draw a hair line towards the top of the forehead. I then add a line for the side of the neck, below the outer corner of the eyes. I add detail and tone to the hair, following its natural direction. Shade with a flat even tone, dark areas first. I start to look at the whole drawing, building tones.

A very beautiful drawing, and your tips are helpful for a avid drawer starting. My only quip is that the subject/face seems to be blank, dead pan, missing a spark of life.

Not that I am in any way a professional drawer myself, I am flat out getting two stick figures right, but I do like it when the picture/drawing tells a story, whether it is in the eyes or in the face, it just has to be a small story/spark.

Yes it does and I hope we can learn from each other

I like your portrait @vaansteem! Nice how you made the focus in the centre. I also love the rawness around it.

This is one of my works. At first I started with a collage, then added some primer. Finally used chalk and marker to draw the profile.

love yourself and respect life

I love this one also. I like the kind of abstract essence of it. Again, beautiful ✌🏼

Thank you @char-bizz very nice of you to say!
