The sports car manufacturer Porsche has discontinued the sale of all new cars from now on. The background to this is the changeover to the new exhaust gas measuring cycles WLTP and RDE, which entail stricter requirements both in the approval procedure on the test bench and in real day-to-day operation. They apply gradually from September of this year. Gasoline engines can usually meet these limits only if they are equipped with a particulate filter.

Apparently, Porsche underestimated the necessary technical measures. Since Friday, the following note appears on the homepage in the configurator: "Due to a pending model revision, the model you have selected is currently not available as a freely configurable new car. Nevertheless, we would like to give you the opportunity to continue to look at the model in the Car Configurator. If you are interested in configurable new cars, available existing vehicles and young used vehicles, please contact your Porsche Center ".

There, even the customer gets told that he has to wait for the models Cayenne and Panamera until at least March 2019, if a new vehicle is desired. How it is ordered to the sports car icon 911, was not yet clear. Fall will definitely be. From Porsche was initially no official opinion to receive. However, it was said that the measure was due to the high order backlog. The production is sold out until September. For this reason, first of all, all the efforts will be made to process all remaining orders and to allow the vehicles before 1 September 2018.
