It is important to develop loving and caring patterns towards your body as part of developing a positive attitude.
As you get to know another person, you tend to focus on all their good points rather than their flaws. In the same way, your body deserves this consideration. Often we search to find and focus on flaws. We check what we believe is wrong or disgusting about our own body. This may include obsessing over weight and trying to achieve a specific number. Other bad habits are checking fat by pinching or checking in the mirror, in order to continue, to reinforce the negative attitude.
However, negative attitude leads to punishment and feelings of frustration and anger which can sabotage good habits and goals.
How can you break the negative cycle? Psychologists recommend you find or make five positive points for each one negative criticism. This could include thinking about your good points (physical and character), eating an enjoyable and healthy meal to feel satisfied and exercising in a way you actually enjoy, whether that is walking, dancing, swimming or playing.
