Polydactyl - our cats have too many toes

Ollie and Poly are our homestead kitties. They work hard to keep the field mice population in check while they provide us entertainment and companionship. I think they're earning their keep quite well.

Both kitties are polydactyl. Ollie has 7 toes on each of his front paws while his sister Poly has 6 toes. Poly's paws look like typical mittens with thumbs.

Ollie's front paws look like he's wearing snowshoes. He is also the bully of the pair, but his sister is the huntress field mice killing machine.

For fun I have a link to one of their short videos.

Freedom must be exercised.

take care y'all

Sort:

Cats purr at the same frequency as an idling diesel engine, about 26 cycles per second.

They are little purr machines LOL

The little tufts of hair in a cat’s ear that help keep out dirt direct sounds into the ear, and insulate the ears are called “ear furnishings.”

didn't know that - thanks

Cheetahs do not roar, as the other big cats do. Instead, they purr.

I used to live on a farm with my ex fiancee and his family. We had more cats than cows on this small, family cattle farm and MOST of them had this! So cool :)

Our male cat Ollie has one little toe that tries to grow back into his pad. Bless his heart he is so good about letting me trim it.
