Centralized Governance: Blame Game Promoters

in #politics5 years ago

One wouldn't know the difference until you have a taste of the two varieties of governance - centralized and decentralized. I remember sometimes in the year 2003 when one of our then governor was fighting for "Resource Control" against the Federal Government if Nigeria and he actually won.

One of the tenets if resource control holds that each state should control, utilize and develop their natural resources. Here we see that each small unit of governance would give in it's best. On the contrary, the centralized control of natural resources is characterised by hate because an area which produces much feels that the less producing side is cheating on them.

Nigeria as a country claiming to be Africa's giant has witnessed several dramas by those in governance. They would never attack a government they are benefiting from. Few days ago, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and former Emir in Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was dethroned of the Emirship position and thus was followed by some intriguing social media comments against the government. The above captured quote is attributed to him.

He had been in the corridors of power for many years and was actually controlling Nigeria's money market yet, he had nothing to do to help change the status quo of law makers grooping so much money each month running into millions of Naira which could actually deal with unemployment in the country.

While I do not support law makers, I think we all should do good when we are in power and stop casting stones when we are out. More importantly, I seek a national governance where decentralization is practiced.

Every citizen of a nation deserves to have fair share of the national cake and have his stake in governance respected

Easier said than done! Especially in our nation where without corrupt practices one can hardly get any thing done

Only God can help us. The lies are increasing each passing day.
