"The witch is dead"

So after much waiting, and hoping by many, Jacob Zuma has resigned.

This is a man with 9 presidential lives, as this latest vote of no confidence was his NINTH!! From scandal to scandal he has lived, and every time he somehow managed to get out of facing the music.
Some of his tactics were hidden and secretive, others were brazen and left our jaws on the floor with how it seemed he just didn't care for the country and people, or what they thought of him(I think of his blatant cabinet reshuffles).

Jacob Zuma has a Zulu name "Gedleyihlekisa" which means one who smiles while grinding his enemies....how apt is that?? I think of his laughing on national TV while the corruption charges and state capture charges were swirling all around him.

I for one cannot be happier that he is gone, he has raped this country and sidestepped every consequence....it is time to face the music.
Money laundering, theft, racketeering, state capture, rape, corruption, neglect, gangster-ism.....it just doesn't end on his list of crimes.

Let's hope that those that are running things now, hold him to account, and not give him a similar escape from justice as Shabir Schaik who is out playing golf instead of in jail where he belongs.

We all know how politics is played, and what is said in the open is not what is agreed to behind closed doors.
I for one hope that is not the case here!!

Sort:

Normally anyone caught in corrupt practices here is suspended at Full Pay ( My Dream Job). SABC , SAP, Escom etc. ( Just not sure if they get their yearly increases?)

Yearly increases, lmfao

Well, the way things have been going I wouldn't be surprised. Likely prime + 30%...

LOL that is the truth!!!What do you think the lengthy discussions were about last night...its all the negotiations and threats that were being passed around.

Awesome thanks!

Well Done!

Thanks Al....I joined up a day or 2 ago as suggested

I love this. I am kenyan and the same is going on back home. Africa is full of corruption and sick leaders and its time we cleaned up house. They really don't care about the people of the land but their own gains. I didn't know zuma was president for the ninth time, thats sad. Nkosi sikeleli Africa. Hope i spelled it right.

Thankfully Zuma has not been president 9 times, but rather survived 9 votes of no confidence against him....this last one is the one that eventually got him out.
We hope that the road to repair is fast following...Hi @blak I'm sorry to hear this is also the case in Kenya.....its heartbreaking actually. I love Africa, and South AFrica.....so when the leaders are in it for themselves it really does hurt and anger.

"African Time" well that was the fastest move I have witness in a long, long time.

Within a 24 hour time frame Zuma out Ramaphosa in let us hope this is
the start of a good "Spring Cleaning Session".

Yes me too!! I loved that quote BTW, "end of an error".
I was wondering however that is this not something that needs to be voted about? He is only acting president and not the actual president until voted in?

It is a good time frame of a full year to see how much can be adjusted and rectified before election campaigning begins, which I feel is a fair amount of time for people to adjust and decide.

In eighteen months, let the best man win ("party"), problem with politics they all blow a lot of hot air.

Oh yes haven't we seen that the world over. So many promises before and during the electioneering, and then unfortunately very little follow through.
Let's hope some good comes from the need to win over the votes by the leading parties, enough to get them actually doing stuff

Zuma is one slippery devil. I really doubt anything will happen to him even after resigning. He is in a high position in the ANC. Regardless of what they say, he'll never go to jail. He could be convicted on all the charges but stil wouldn't face any serious jail time. If he does go to jail, it will be of his own choosing where he will be living in luxury. This is unfortunate but possible.

If you and I had done half the things our ex president had done, then we would not see the daylight again.I must say @solomonsel I agree with you unfortunately. I do believe the politics around is not what we hear in the media. We hear a controlled version of what is happening while in actual fact they are striking bargains and agreeing to terms....it's quite scary to think of it. But this is is not just in the political circuits, but those with money also get away with things because of the fact they can control the outcome. How many have dodged any serious consequences compared to the average man on the street.

Cheers man

That is true. We live in a world where power and money are values above all else.
Cheers.

Very apt name, and what damage he did to the whole country!

And I wouldn't put the dabbling in actual witchcraft past him LOL
I was referencing the wicked witch of the west

Ha haaa, and now life makes sense yet again!
Well almost!

Yes, we wait and see. Although nothing really could be worse, unless they employ Bob Mugabe perhaps?
