The following is my cut of the recent State of the Union Adress delivered by Donald Trump yesterday. The original speech was one hour and 20 minutes long. My version is 25 minutes long, or 24:53 seconds to be exact. Before you watch it, if you so choose to, I should tell you the criteria for what I have cut.
First of all, I have cut all of the segments revolving around Trump’s menagerie of true Americans, which he sat in the audience and praised during his speech, often holding them up as shining examples of various facets of his ideal of the American spirit. These were cut because they were anecdotal and manipulative.
Second, I have cut any statements that were purely jingoistic in nature. I have not cut all jingoism from the speech, but only instances where the jingoism was not interwoven with any issues of substance and was used only in a pandering way meant to inspire an emotional response of patriotism. These were cut because they are empty flattery devoid of substance.
Third, I have cut all of the tedious and long applause sections that occur in all State of the Union speeches. I truly wish our presidents would ask Congress to hold their applause until the end of the speech, as this issue plagues all of these speeches. Applauding every single sentence of a speech is tedious and time wasting. These were cut for obvious reasons.
What I decided to cut was informed by what I strove to leave in. What I have aimed to present you with here is the policy, issues, and substance of Trump’s speech. His view of the issues, his proposed solutions, and the reasoning behind his perspectives and solutions.
My motive in doing this was simply curiosity. I think this cut of the speech can be useful to both Trump lovers and haters, and everyone in the increasingly small category of “in between”. I’ve endeavored to present a version of this speech that cuts to the heart of his positions and perspectives, without the emotional appeals, jingoistic pandering, or tedious applause.

Takiing the applause and hyperbole out is genuis. One of the most frustrating things about watching the SOTU is all the extra time it takes to clap like idiots. Its crazy to me when the opposing party sits like statues when the President says some thing they should agree with.....both sides do it. In every SOTU the President points out and individual as proof of something. I hope the American people are smart enough to see that as anecdotal evidence. When you took away all of the fluff it is easier to listen to the speech for content instead of an emotional response. THANKS!!

The true version of the address.....nice one TJ. possibly could be accused of censorship but I do believe rational filtering and settling on the common denominator i.e. truth is more than acceptable. Nice job.
I mean, full versions of the speech are available everywhere, and I've been completely transparent about what I have cut from the original version, so I think any accusation of censorship would ring hollow. This is not an attempt to criticize Trump, though I do have my criticisms. This is merely an attempt to show strictly the policy and issue-based portion of the SOTU without the pageantry, pandering, emotional appeals and other meaningless frivolities. I think that a Trump supporter will be just as likely to enjoy this cut as a Trump detractor. It's simply a policy- and issues-based edit.
I am totally for you on this......I was only referring to stoic Trump supporters when I mentioned censorship. Being an anti-statist and a Libertarian i would like to see them all go-we can but hope.
TJ isn't really in a position to censor Trump even if he wanted to...it's not like TJ is somehow more powerful than the US government and could shut him down...

I'm not sure Trump said a single true thing in this entire "speech".
The standards are so low at this point, that i'm impressed with the fact that he was able to learn the lines, and deliver them for that long (they must have given him something to keep him focused)...
But even though you guys made it bearable to watch, i couldn't take it for more than 10 minutes into the speech. :-\

So this is the first video that you uploaded i can finally comment on due to it taking almost a week to get an account of this site. I find it interesting you said that you would upload first Dtube then youtube but i am guessing due to the fact that the uploader is not as good youtube went up first. I do have to agree that the major problem of all State of the Union speeches is the fact after every line you have to have applause. Still i can't stand watching trump.

Thank you for making this cut. The added accolades and bullshit pandering actually made it more difficult for me to catch everything.
Oddly enough, Trump's speech seems, dare I say it, BETTER, than it did initially. I really didn't expect that, and I'm not sure how I feel about that or how to reconcile it.
That one point about getting harder on drug pushers I was not on board with, and was about to comment that we should be more centered around rehab, but it was this cut that allowed me to hear the other part he said - that he seeks to give "Americans crippled by drugs the treatment they desperately need." I agree with you and the rest of Deep Fat Fried though - I hope the "drug pushers" he refers to include (ahem, are centered around) big pharma and doctors (read: the ACTUAL drug-pushers). And I hope getting "the treatment they need" involves incentives to doctors and the afflicted to getting treatment before their condition creates harm to themselves and/or others.
Another point I missed was how he was going to take a lot of the immigrants we have today and put them on an easier path to citizenship. As restrictive to our borders as he seems to be, he also seems to be trying to decriminalize the people that are here. I think that's at least a step in the right direction.
I'm not pro-trump (i'm cynical about him), but I'm not as put off as I was before.
