Anonymous calls for Days of Rage in 37 cities this weekend

in #politics8 years ago (edited)

A group calling themselves Anonymous is organizing nationwide protests this weekend because of all the recent police shootings. Due to the anonymous nature of their videos no one can be sure if this is the "real" anonymous hacker group or just paid political activists. The message and video is suspiciously absent from the well known Anonhq.com homepage, but the call to action is quickly being spread via social media.

With the recent rise of funded political activism, this could very well be organized by groups that wish to create havoc during the presidential campaign and upcoming national conventions. This group appears to be far more organized than the usual anonymous events, and are calling for simultaneous national protests in 37 cities on Friday, July 15th at 7pm ET, 6pm CT, 5pm MT, 4pm PT.

They have released a 5 minute long video with the Anonymous symbol and computer rendered voice over recent footage of riots in various cities. It includes an unusual business friendly message, specifying that "your local 7-11 or Dollar Tree did not cause the deaths of these young men" and "we condemn every form of rioting". Then continues on to call for a "Day of Rage"...

Their message also states that they have hacked the St Anthony and Baton Rouge police departments and obtained evidence of corruption. They are planning to release the evidence in concert with the marches. They have specifically called for Black Lives Matter and other radical groups to join in, and have tagged it #FridayofSolidarity on twitter.

The video is included below, and it unfortunately starts with uncut footage of the shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.
Warning: Graphic - Skip to 1:15 to avoid the uncut footage of the victims.

The transcript:

Citizens of the World. We are Anonymous.

Early morning on Tuesday, July 5th, Alton Sterling was fatally shot four times in the chest by police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was unarmed. On Wednesday, July 6th, we witnessed a second shooting, live on Facebook. Another man, Philando Castile, was shot four times in the arm after being stopped by St. Anthony Police for a broken taillight. He notified the officers that he did have a concealed weapon in his posession as he was reaching for his identification. Philando Castile was a cafeteria supervisor at his school. The students there considered him a good friend. He was killed in front of his daughter and his girlfriend.
On July 7th, we collectively witnessed the deaths of five officers. They had nothing to do with the deaths of either Philando or Alton. While we cannot agree with the official accounts of the Dallas Police Department and the theory that there was only one shooter involved, we can agree that this was a heinous incident that has no place in our fight for justice and equality. Yet, while we do honor these fallen officers, we will not be discouraged. We will not stop until the officers responsible for the deaths of both Alton Sterling and Philando Castile are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We WILL NOT submit to another failure of judgement by those who failed to indict Darren Wilson and prosecute the officers who were involved in the death of Freddie Gray.
The entire global collective of Anonymous is outraged at these vicious murders. The time has come to draw a line in the sand and say enough is enough. We are infuriated as we watch day after day, another human, murdered, because an irresponsible, corrupt system allows free reign to cops that continuously abuse their power.
Thus, we are calling upon the citizens of the United States to rise up and stand in solidarity with the people of Dallas, Baton Rouge, Falcon Heights, as well as Baltimore and Ferguson. We are grieving for the lost lives that were taken by the hands of a corrupted authority. We MUST STRESS the importance of staying nonviolent. Your local 7/11 or Dollar Tree did not cause the deaths of these young men. We condemn every form of rioting.
We are calling on a collective day of rage. A day of action centered around civil disobedience and the right to protest.
To police departments across the United States. We are not your enemy. However, it is in your hands if you want us to stay that way or not. We will not be silenced and we will not be intimidated.
To the St. Anthony and the Baton Rouge Police Departments, we've already launched attacks on your virtual infrastructure. We are prepared to release every single piece of evidence that will expose your corruption and blatant disregard for human life.
Once again we are calling upon the citizens of the United States, in conjunction with the Black Lives Matter movement as well as other civil rights activists, to participate in a day of action against the injustices of corrupt officers. On Friday, July 15th, we will all flood the streets at strategic locations in order to maximize our voice. The locations and times will be located in the description below. Tell your family, tell your friends. We will change the world together. Our freedom depends on it.

We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not Forgive.
We do not Forget.
On July 15th, expect us all.

After seeing how the protests in Missouri, Atlanta, Chicago and other places have gone this week, this call for action will most likely get some traction from activists in your area. Here is a list of places to watch if you want to participate, are interested in documenting it, or wish to avoid them if you do not fit in with the crowds that will be gathering.

No matter what your views are on these matters, protests can turn violent and dangerous very quickly. Watching the recent livestreamed protests have shown police, protestors, reporters, and bystanders all put in harms way due to simply being in the right place at the wrong time.

The police are ready for this type of action, and will respond in great numbers with teargas, pepperspray, rubber bullets, and flashbangs. Due to the timing around the 4th of July, the protestors in multiple cities have also been firing fireworks at the police this year. This does not encourage friendly behavior from the police.

If you are near these areas you may want to be prepared to protect yourself and your property. Fireworks and flashbangs can easily start fires, rubber bullets can cause serious damage, and some of the protestors are still dyed orange from the pepperspray last weekend. You may want to park your cars out of the way and think about creating a plan to stay safe.

The ability of an international group to plan and organize protests and possibly violence against sovereign police forces and during election cycle should be questioned.

Yes definitely. George Soros is spending huge amounts of money to finance this unrest.

The main reason it is allowed is because the democrats in power think it will benefit them.
