The Police In Wisconsin Can No Longer Steal Your Money Unless You Are Convicted Of A Crime

in #politics6 years ago

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) signed into law a forfeiture reform bill last week that will require law enforcement officials to obtain a criminal conviction before permanently taking a person's cash or property, making Wisconsin the 15th state to do so.

My Thoughts On This News

This is great news, I am surprised this was actually signed into law by a Republican because Jeff Sessions is extremely in favor of civil asset forfeitures. This law is just pure theft, it basically allows the police to take anything they want from you, whatever money you have in your pocket, they can just take it and keep it and all they have to say is that they suspect you have committed a crime. You basically have to prove your innocence in order for you to get your property back. This is another reason law enforcement agencies love the war on drugs, because they can simply take the money from the drug dealers they catch and keep it for themselves. Why would they legalize drugs and create a better society for people who would not be locked up in jail for minor drug offenses. When they can keep fighting the never ending war on drugs and tax payers pay them to fight and at the same time take all the money from the drug dealers they catch and keep that for themselves also...

Having lived in Wisconsin for most of my life, I am kind of in shock that there is any good news coming from this state, especially with Scott Walker in charge of it.

Yeah this is very surprising coming from Scott Walker, he is very corrupt. But the Republicans claim to be for small government, so not allowing law enforcement agents to steal from people should be a no brainer....

15th State to re-legislate the 4th Amendment. Awesome.
