I have sat on the news of the governor of Virginia's yearbook photo "scandal" for a few days, and debated whether or not I should make a post about it. Well, in the end, I decided that as a Virginia resident, I would be remiss to avoid the topic any longer.
It is evident, regardless of political views, that Northam has....well, fucked up royally. I am not going to get into the debate of "is it, or is it not Northam in the photograph?" It doesn't matter. His reaction to it has sealed his fate.
I am a Democrat. I voted for Northam. In the light this "scandal", I have written a letter to Northam, asking him to do the right thing and step down from his current position. In apologizing hastily, he has, in my eyes, admitted guilt to...at least something of this nature....in the past. He may be a very good man now, as he seemed to be when we elected him. Regardless of who he is now, his actions are not good for him, and are not good for the Democratic party, especially as we attempt to make our stance on equality known throughout the vast amounts of oppression currently being seen across the country.
