What's up with Australian politics?

in #politics6 years ago

I used to have a lot of interest in politics. I even joined a party. Not anymore. I mean I'm interested in the governance of our country, but I loathe the Australian political landscape at the moment. For those no following, our incumbent Prime Minister, the elected leader of our country is having his leadership challenged from within his own party.

Maybe this wouldn't be a big deal, if it wasn't the 4th time this has happened in the last 10 years! It's unbelievable that our political leaders can't form a united front behind their party leader. It suggests to me that the state of our social structures if in peril, if the people who are supposed to be governing our country can't do what's best for their own political party.

I abhor self serving, aggrandizing politicians out for their own self promotion. The institutes set up by our forefathers were meant to be in the best interests of all people. I wonder these days if we would ever get a health care system, or roads, electricity networks built by the current generation of politicians.

But then, perhaps the public life required to be in the position, and relatively low salaries given the amount of work required select for the ego-driven self promoters. I can't help but feel that society has lost faith in the ability of Government to deliver what's in the best interests of the population.

Then again, capitalism and the Westminster form of Government has been proven to be more effective than socialism, communism, totalitarianism and fascism....

Perhaps platforms like Steemit - decentralised, block chain based are the building blocks of a power shift to truly give the power back into the hands of the people.

is there any other kind ?

Perhaps not at this point in time. And that's disappointing

It is indeed unfortunate but that has been my lived experience so far , very rare to find one with spine and a reasonable head.
