Another instance of an oppressive government employing brute force to disrupt the democratic process. Catalonia has fought to claim independence since 1922, that spirit carried on and grew even during the brutal Franco regime that lasted until 1975. Today the Catalan people had a chance to express their will and once more felt the powers in Madrid thwart their desires. The crown and the Spanish Government have made a terrible mistake. By interrupting the referendum they will just galvanize the Catalans towards independence even more.
