PNAC Agenda for Multiple Mideast Wars Resumes Under Donald Trump

in #politics7 years ago (edited)

Yesterday, United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley declared that Iran is violating the nuclear deal completed during Barack Obama's tenure. According to ABC News:

The weapons systems were described as having distinctive manufacturing markings and designs unique to Iranian companies and military organizations. Iran has denied allegations that it has provided weapons to Yemen's Houthi rebels.

"The evidence is undeniable," said Haley. "The weapons might as well have had 'Made in Iran' stickers all over it."

Donald Trump campaigned as far back as 2015 upon ripping up the Iran agreement, and the United States has been supplying weapons to Saudi Arabia to interfere in Yemen in what was once an uprising, but has devolved into a civil war. Millions in Yemen are at risk of famine and disease.

The Nikki Haley spectacle is reminiscent of a presentation by Republican Secretary of State Colin Powell in 2003 where he warned of the threat of Iraq's "weapons of mass destruction" (WMDs) using fabricated evidence. When it became widely known that his "testimony" was Fake News, Colin Powell himself declared his speech a "failure."

CNN described the Nikki Haley presentation this way:

Haley said Thursday that the weapons debris on display is proof of a "pattern of behavior" from Iran and evidence of UN Security Council violations.

As usual, mainstream media (MSM) acts as spokesperson for the government with many articles uncritically reporting the Nikki Haley spectacle and ignoring what it is -- the "PNAC Agenda" resumed. This is reminiscent of the applause from MSM when Donald Trump bombed Syria just a few months ago. Suddenly, Donald Trump was presidential and the bombs were "beautiful." The constant stream of outrage about Donald Trump's juvenile behavior was temporarily put on hold.

The PNAC Agenda was a plan first introduced right before the 2000 election, where Republicans wanted to increase the military, fight three large scale wars simultaneously, and attack seven nations. Iran was on the list. In the first six years of the George W. Bush administration, the PNAC agenda was pursued with single-minded aggression, until 2007 when Democrats took control of Congress. Then Zbigniew Brezinski, a former advisor to Jimmy Carter testified to Congress:

Most stunning and disturbing was his description of a "plausible scenario for a military collision with Iran." It would, he suggested, involve "Iraqi failure to meet the benchmarks, followed by accusations of Iranian responsibility for the failure, then by some provocation in Iraq or a terrorist act in the US blamed on Iran, culminating in a 'defensive' US military action against Iran that plunges a lonely America into a spreading and deepening quagmire eventually ranging across Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan."

General Wesley Clark describes the PNAC agenda as he was told.

In recent times, Republicans have been pushing a continuation of the PNAC agenda with similar documents and reports that simply do not get the kind of coverage one might expect from a conspiracy community that is ostensibly opposed to wars. Incredibly, some of these reports are being funded by "libertarians" like the notorious Koch brothers.

Hey bro - great post... I wish there were more people who where actually paying attention... Haley was nothing more than a bad joke last year (I guess so was Trump though), now she's leading the charge for a war in Iran... Bet the old "axis of evil" re-boot is right around the corner...

Thank you. Not that things were good before, but 2016 really flipped things around. The corporate media became the "Democratic partisan" establishment, and Donald Trump became an "outsider." Traditionally, Republicans were the Establishment party, with Democrats often conflicted by failing to take their role as Opposition, and sometimes even benefiting the establishment -- especially since Ronald Reagan when the pendulum swung.

Last year, Republicans rushed to support sponsored "alt" media that was mostly an arm of the Republican Establishment while Democrats jumped to back MSM as if it is on their side. Independent media withered away. They really got us divided good now, each side pushed into partisan extremes.

Very little room for actual independence now.
