Part of the tories manifesto. Ok ok so it may not be as dramatic as the title says but still, that's the general jist of it.
Let's start with stealing from the elderly....
My basic understanding is that if an elderly person requires care in their own home and they own that home then the tories have said that the value of the house comes in to account. That sounds reasonable...The money has to come from somewhere. Where does that leave the actual real life person who owns the house. They've written their will and everything is left to their children so they don't have to worry. Then comes the kicker, say this house is worth £320,000. £220,000 of this persons hard earned money will go to the government just because this person needed care and was provided it in their own home.... I work in care and I know that is wayyy more than it would cost for two carers to go in three times a day for 2/3years even. So that leaves the family with 100,000.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say no to someone giving that to me but really? What makes Theresa May believe that the elderly should part with their money or houses because they need care? I can see that leading to more elderly people not seeking the care they need because they don't agree with it!
And she's decided to rob the elderly even more! Stopping cold weather payments! What?! I know plenty of elderly people who refuse to put the heating on unless they are getting their payment. That payment is the only way they can justify putting the heating on and heightening that bill! Heck, I don't get a cold weather payment and the only reason my heating goes on is because the kids need it on!
What about robbing children?
The Maybot has decided that these free lunches that children get need to be stopped. They should have breakfast instead. This breakfast better be a bloody full works fry up because the kids that have these lunches quite often don't have a hot meal when they go home!
The lunches were started because parents were going without so they could feed their children and in order to allow these children at least one fully balanced meal a day. To combat obesity in children and allow strain to be taken of the NHS (don't get me started on that) with things such as diabetes and childhood obesity.
So what a great idea there!
My kids aren't at school age yet but I know from the countless picnics we have had, how much a balanced packed lunch actually costs. I know, I know, I chose to have children. However, I counter that with what about all the money that is spent on the MP's meals out claimed under expenses? This has got to be equivalent to at least one meal at a school? Breakdown the cost? Bulk cooking and buying is cheaper, I do it! So trying to save money but not stopping MP's expenses? The children in this matter are innocent and they have no idea of how the world works, especially not at infant or junior school age. Why deny them this?
I'm going to stop writing now before I get too angry. But there is probably going to be another similar post soon enough.
Obviously this post is my opinion....
Happy steeming guys and gals!
