Hello. I am a political junkie. The first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem. I confess to all Steemians and the world at large that I am an addict and always will be. It is a chronic condition characterized by incessant reading and mulling over superfluous drama.
With that said, I need a hit. Aaaaaahhh…oh yeah. That’s it. Old white guy. Top shelf indeed. Pass to the left.
At the ripe age of 33, being a borderline millennial, though I hate the term and do not actually identify as such, I have come to love old white guys. Especially just a moment ago. Not because I’m so high, but because the constant barrage against them is so ironic.
Disclaimer: I am libertarian.
I am fairly certain that many old white guys call the far-left wing of American politics home. The Democrat Party has systematically selected “old white guys” as the prime political scapegoat, yet such animus has not scared old white guys off the reservation. How can this be? Well…the answer is clear: because it’s total B.S.
Old white guys are not the real villain of the left, and every single old white guy of the left knows it. It has been recently reported that U.S. Senator Diane Feinstein committed heresy by calling for “patience” with regard to public scorn towards President Trump, especially with calls for impeachment.
State Senate leader Kevin de Leon, a Democrat from Los Angeles, has been quoted in response: “I don’t think children who breathe dirty air can afford patience. The LGBT worker or woman losing their rights by the day or the black student who could be assaulted on the street, they can’t afford patience. DREAMers who are unsure of their fate in this country can’t afford patience. Even a Trump voter who is still out of work can’t afford to be patient.”
That was a mouthful, but he missed the best part—old white guys. Surely some old white guys still need Welfare benefits. Surely some old white guys still need their monthly Social Security distributions. Surely Mr. de Leon would never call for half of the nation’s largest voting bloc by race to leave his party. No, the old white guy pariah is an attempt to simply advance identity politics. Dividing and classifying the nation into manageable groups is clearly the objective, and Mr. de Leon’s statement is about as succinct and clear as ever articulated.
Old white guys are open and available to take a hit, and the likes of Warren Buffet would readily admit it.
