Roy Oliver a Texas policeman was found guilty of murdering 15 year old Jordan Edwards. The headline for this story from NBC News reads "White Texas police officer found guilty of murder for fatally shooting black teen in car". The article discusses the race of the policeman, the race of the victim, the race and gender of the jurors, previous black people killed by police, the thoughts of various family members, and statistics about other policeman before getting to the facts of the case. The headline might as well read "Black people get a win" when in reality nobody wins in this case. Jordan Edwards is still dead, Roy Oliver will now go to prison for a long time (if not for the rest of his life), and the media drives a wedge between the races. Regardless of whether Roy Oliver deserved to be found guilty of murder or not, the way the media has marketed this case is completely ridiculous. The mainstream media is trying to create a race war. Don't let them.
