Nigeria and the coming 2019 elections... Who will get your vote in 2019? Pt 3

in #politics6 years ago

This is the last of this series of "who will get your vote in 2019?"
The last 3 are part of the old cabal and we all see them as being one and the same individuals who will never stay in the shadows.

  • Kingsley Moghalu. This aspirant is a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. A political economist, lawyer and former United Nations official, is a Professor of Practice in International Business and Public Policy at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He is the Founder of Sogato Strategies LLC. H, like the others is seeking to bring their wealth of experience to the the number one position in the country.

  • Bukola Saraki. This aspirant is the son of Kwara's most influential political family. A Nigerian politician who has been President of the Nigeria's Senate since 2015 was previously Governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011. He was first elected to the Senate in April 2011, representing the Kwara Central senatorial district, and re-elected in 2015.
He is seeking to attain the highest political office in the land after having started from the Governorship to the Senate.
His tenure as been shrouded with various corruption allegations, but he still remains the senate president despite still having cases in court. Talk about the Nigerian system of governance.

  • Donald Duke. This aspirant is the former Governor of Cross River State from 1999 to 2007. He is known for the great works he did while he was a governor. He created the idea of the Obudu Ranch International Mountain Race and the race grew to become one of the most lucrative mountain running competitions in the world under his stewardship.
He is also credited for his fight for democracy.

These last 3 are all well made men and have so many accolades to show for their time in public office. In all, there are 12 of these men seeking to attain the number one office in the land and an incumbent struggling to retain his seat.

I Feel Blessed!

I believe that we will be seeing these aspirants coming up with various strategies to woo the people. Nothing is too much to give for the attainment of any political office in Nigeria and with this being the number 1 position, we will be intrigued.

2019 is fast approaching to many of us, but for these politicians, it is already here and they are putting no stops to make sure they get the number 1 position.

So who will you be casting your votes for come 2019???

Make the world a better place for someone today!

Sort:

I will wait to hear their manifesto as well as clear and detailed map on how to turn the fortunes of Nigeria about before I will even start looking for my voters card. If they do not have anything in the briefcase to turn the country around, they should do and come and go.

Good idea, although manifestos are mostly a bunch of lies, it helps to see what they have to say.
Stay awesome!

Now........ I'll be using my third eye to know who I'll use my voting power on @ejemai

This old cabal always have a way of "recycling" themselves into power, I just hope that Nigerians will wake up and people's vote will actually count. Great post

We should really say no to recycled leadership.
Stay awesome!

I love the classification amongst the aspirants

Youth Revolutionaries
Youth Politicians
Old Cabals

Firstly, I will strike out the old cabals
Secondly, Manifesto and Electoral debates is pertinent. If you recall vividly, the Incumbent president evaded last Presidential debate despite his party being the top most opposition.
What do we have today?...PMB is living exactly on the opposite of his campaign promises.
Lol!!!

A Youth should be the winner.
Not just any youth listed there but one with vision and mission clearly defined and feasible
Kogi State have a young governor but ungovernable and worst amongst his contemporaries

Having a young persons as a president will be cool, but we need young and serious minded youths who are not easily swayed. A good example of a young and stupid governor is the Kogi State governor and I hope the people make better choice next time.
Stay awesome!

Nigeria is a country of huge opportunity. It is still developing. So, choose the best one from the bests. Wish you you best of luck.

Thanks for the best wishes.
Stay awesome!

Youth Revolution for life,we need a new turn.

the boss @ejemai thanks for this short profile about this guys. i just hope nigeria and nigerians get better this time around. our judgement about who is to lead should not be clouded by religion or tribalism but based on something much more. who is capable enough to take this country to the next level. well, i just have this soft sport for Donald Duke, thats not to say i will vote for him. i just want whoever will perform and will take Nigeria to the next level to emerge as the president. thanks boss.

We will get better and as the years roll in, the process will be better and well thought out. Making the right choice as to what leader we will vote is important. Seeing the shift in givernance around the world, we are becoming better informed.
Stay awesome!

How I wish we the Nigerian youths will take our advantage of number and vote out all those cabals who have been in power since 1960.

Please let every Nigerian youth stand up now to secure a future for ourselves and our children, get your PVC now!

I believe we can

Hope for the best for Nigeria.🙏

We are tired of recycling old and unproductive politicians. I hope to vote for sowore because he has been able to manage Sahara reporters online news paper with accuracy.

We must experience a breath of fresh air in governance.
Stay awesome!

Exactly my point bros.

I pray that Nigerians will come out in their masses to vote know that day... And make the right choice for the betterment of lie country..

God bless you for this @ejemai

Thanks and it is our prayer to get the right persons leading and effecting real change.
Stay awesome!

Non of the old cabals will earn my vote. I will rather sleep on the election day than to vote for any of them. If they should allow the youth, I will gladly cast my vote in fact I will gladly sensitise other people to vote for them.
I hope they do not stop all those youths

Make the right decision and cast your vote for the candidate you see as being credible.
Stay awesome!

Yes sir! Lol

No one is getting my votes,i ain't voting for those thiefs anymore

@ejemai yes we really need young mind to take us to the promise land. Nigeria has come a long way to desever a better leader them ever

We sure deserve better leaders and hopefully, we are getting there.
Stay awesome!

Here's my decision matrix for you, the Nigerian voter:

  • Perry Brimah looks the most sympathetic of the bunch. Runner up is Atiku Abubakar. There's nothing better than a good smile - but then again, it's politics. Perhaps staying away from that is better for the two.
  • On the other end of that spectrum there would be Adamu Garba. He's definitively not the guy to buy a used car from.
  • Omoyele Sowore is aging too fast, so he's out as well. (And besides, the lower half of his face looks exactly like the one of Tiger Woods, a notorious womanizer, so: Hands off!)
  • Thomas Ikubese looks intelligent. Not sure though if this holds up with his glasses off.
  • Mohammed Buhari doesn't even look intelligent with glasses on.
  • The plus for Sule Lamido is that he reminds me of a rich uncle - which is an advantage if you think of it. But then again, what if he runs out of money for me because he has to give money to everyone as president?
  • In contrast to him, Ayo Fayose kind of seems like he just got out of bed. That could be his hat, but his face looks like he's watching his mom preparing breakfast and he can't wait getting his bowl of cereals.
  • Then we have Bukola Saraki who looks 20% too cool for this job. He's totally out.

This leaves a fight between top hair still there and top hair replaced with shiny skin. Interestingly, all four are wearing very nice suits.

  • Not sure why, but Fela Durotoyes image looks as if it was cut out of a bigger picture. One, on which he's on his knees, holding a big rifle in one hand and the head of a dead tiger in the other.
  • Ahmed Buhari looks like he was the photographer of Durotoyes photo. And who also handled the hunting party and does that kind of thing for money.
  • Obviously, Kingsley Moghalu was on Buharis hunting party, too. But he doesn't approve of the photo taken by Buhari, which explains his look. Could be disgust for killing such an animal as a trophy, or it could be that he thinks Durotoyes might be blackmailed with the picture of him with the rifle+tiger.
  • Last but not least, there is Donald Duke. Donald doesn't care for hunting. He cares more for hair products and thinks he's got it all because of the first name, the alliteration with the last name and everything else he has. What he does not have is a Trump Tower. But give it time..

What's the lesson learned here?

Don't pick your vote based on superficial impressions. Look at the details like competence and integrity.

Given the information @ejemai gave, I'd say the best choice would probably be Kingsley Duke, a non-politician expert with plenty of experience in the mix with a young politician who earned his spurs on lower levels of administration.

But then again, who am I? I'm living in Florida handling problems you would probably smile about having. Anyway: Best of luck with the elections!

This is really educative. Can I make a post with this comment of yours? I like the way you analyzed this and I think more persons have to read and digest it.
The process of elections in Nigeria is really unfair mostly and we end up seeing the very wrong persons taking the lead.
Once again, nice analysis and I was just chuckling.
Stay awesome!

Thanks for the compliments and sure, go ahead!
