It occurred to me last night that Americans never hear about 2nd World countries. It turns out they've been wiped from the American vernacular and thought-sphere because they're Commies. The terminology was invented in the first-place to pit the Western Bloc vs. the Eastern Bloc. Of course Western powers would refer to communist nations as "2nd World," implying that they are less developed ideologically, behind in every way. It was only later that the terms came to refer to economic status, but this is a recent development, post-Cold War.
We shouldn't fear 2nd or 3rd World countries. It's another trick to make working-class people of the world think we don't have anything in common, but in fact our plight is the same. Our fight is the same. We can only win if we fight as a team. So we need to organize.
We need symbols, slogans, and secure, digital lines of communication. We need secure meeting places in physical space. We need methods to compromise amongst ourselves. We need selfless leaders and methods to check their power if they turn out not to be so selfless. We need a platform. The platform must not only sit on a spectrum, but be a spectrum itself. We need contingency plans in case we actually face gov't interference. Real gov't interference, beyond the onslaught of poverty and propaganda they shower over all of us daily. If we're actually making an impact, we will face this real interference. We need courage. We need direction. We need to be ready to lose everything, then brush ourselves off and get back into the fight. We need intellectual, emotional, and physical strength. We need a Utopian vision. We need a vision of steps along the way. We need a multi-generational attitude. Do it for those that will come after us. We need a sense of urgency. We need to exercise patience. We need to Act As One.
[I am the furthest thing from an expert on this subject, anyone please feel free to correct me on the history or add to my understanding. Wikipedia's "Second World" article and a few moments of reflection are my only sources.]
Communism is a murderous ideology, so the implication that its a less developed ideology, isn't that far from the truth...
