i think the government should protect individuals, not groups of people, who all have their own will. just because you are a "minority" doesnt mean you have the same ideas and idiology as the other people in your minority group. but this isnt about protection, this is about forcing someone to work for someone, the baker has a right to work for whoever he wants, just like anyone can choose to work for whoever they want. The gay couple could easily just go to the next bakery and i think we can safely say that bakeries aren't usually stores that would discriminate, especially based on sexuality :) so i would think the gay couple would't even want to buy their cake from there, because they would be supporting someone who thinks their act is a sin.

I think that's fair and the gay couple should not force anyone to do anything as long as no one is coming to their space and trying to control it. that is very rude! I also think some minority groups do have some pretty awful ideologies, so I agree with you that the government's first job is to look after each individual, and the rest will fall into place.
