Explaining Postmodernism, aka the Ideology of Cain

in #politics7 years ago

Today I finished listening to Stephen Hicks' book Explaining Postmodernism, which is free to listen on youtube here:

The book is thorough and well-written. It's very information-dense, and I'll have to listen to it again at some point and do a more thorough analysis. Some of this is going to be about the book itself, some will be other random bits of information that I've picked up elsewhere, and some will be my own ideas. Hopefully I can avoid false attributions.

Hicks traces the school of thought known as postmodernism to Marx. In fact, there is a very clear thread connecting the ideas of people like Derrida and Foucalt (the figureheads of postmodernism) to those of Marx. Postmodernism is the dominant philosophy in the West currently, and it's premises are as follows:

White men are sexist, racist, homophobic, and bigoted, and they enjoy advantages at the expense of marginalized groups

All cultures are equal, but Western culture is by far the worst because it exploits people

There is no reality as such, everything is up for interpretation and all interpretations are equally valid (unless you think white people actually aren't all that bad... then prepare to be destroyed)

Because there is no reality, and no truth, language only exists for the purpose of achieving one's desired ends (in this case, an egalitarian utopia where white people are a minority not only in the world, but in each one of the countries they founded)

(note: Hicks makes little if any reference to the fact that postmodernism is a weapon against white people, but it's fairly obvious to me that this is the case)

Postmodernism is essentially Marxism 2.0. Once it became clear that communism had failed miserably, the category of "bourgeois upper class" was replaced with the category "white male," and the strategy of a people's revolution was replaced with Fabian socialism. What that means is a steady erosion of the norms and ideals that led to the success of Western civilization and the promotion of the ideal of equal outcomes. If there is a disparity between two groups, there is no possibility that there is any inherent difference between those groups, it's because of systematic oppression!

Western culture is critiqued relentlessly, without acknowledging that Western culture has the highest standard of living for everyone within it relative to all other cultures around the world. Feminists in the West love to rail about "mansplaining" and "manspreading," but there's a curious lack of Women's Studies majors campaigning against the subhuman treatment of women in Islamic countries. Could it be that their goal is not "equality," as they claim, but rather the subordination of men in the West? It certainly appears so, when one examines child custody laws and the way universities have begun to deal with rape allegations.

The way postmodernists use language is purely Machiavellian. They often don't believe the things they say, for example when certain individuals are called racist, anti-semitic, white supremacist, or other terms that are synonymous with "bad person." However, for them it doesn't matter if the accusations are true, only the outcome matters: forcing the person to bankrupt themselves fighting frivolous lawsuits (as we see in the wake of Charlottesville), or to resign, or to apologize when they didn't actually do anything wrong... sending the message to others to keep their honest opinions to themselves, even when they're abundantly reasonable.

The psychology of the postmodernist is identical to that of the biblical Cain, brother of Abel. Abel's sacrifices were looked upon favorably by God, and Cain's weren't (though the Bible doesn't tell us why). When Cain asks God why he's not being rewarded as his brother is, God tells him it's because his sacrifices are sub-par. When Cain hears this, he murders his brother out of spite and resentment.

This mentality is exemplified in Duchamp's urinal, the quintessential postmodern art piece. A mass-produced porcelain object that one pisses on. That, folks, is what art is to Marcel Duchamp and the postmodernists who were (and are still) in control of the art world. And we can see a steady downward trend from there: from Pollack, to Warhol, to Mr. Brainwash in L.A., to modern art which has already gone beyond circling the drain and is now a massive open sewer.

I made reference to the difference in male and female morality in my previous article. Postmodernism is promulgated by people who have nothing but hatred and resentment for the West, and is enforced by soft-headed Social Justice Warriors, New Agers, and Bernie Bros who are the modern version of the Soviet "useful idiots."

Do not attempt to engage them in a logical debate. They believe logic is simply a tool for the cis-white patriarchy to perpetuate its power (no, really). Simply tell them that since everything is up for interpretation, they can have their interpretation, and you can have yours. My hope is that we can convince kids and their parents that most of them won't benefit from so-called "higher education," thus saving them a lifetime of debt and induction into the postmodern cult.

Anyway, check out the book. I can't really do it justice.
