I remember a piece of a Trump speech I've heard back in 2016, with him pulling genuine left wing talking points out of his hat, explaining how the African American situation in the country is very much an economic one.
Of course, he doesn't give a damn about any of that, but whoever it was on his team who suggested he talk about that on the trail was a campaign genius: Relatively uninformed people who'd heard that, and contrast that with the empty rhetoric of the Clinton campaign would be naturally intrigued by the fact that he as much as brought up such a rarely talked about, but very important issue.
I can only imagine what other pieces of bait there might have been in various Trump speeches that went relatively unnoticed, deceiving people into thinking that he as much as intended to help those who need help the most.
Long story short: I think that there are many who are in line with Bernie, the resonance he's gotten from Republicans during these town halls of his is just more evidence towards that.
I'm going out on a limb to say that there's at least slightly more than just a marginal number of Trump voters who'd vote for Bernie, without even needing to be convinced.
