I think they understand each other but Trump will make a step backward when returning home, he already said this in a tweet "The fact that President Putin and I discussed a Cyber Security unit doesn't mean I think it can happen.". Trump is a good man but his hands are tied together, he can't do anything with the deep state running after him.
