He could have, but as an activist, he is standing up for his rights. This wasn't for officer safety actually. It was a power play on her part.
Totally agree! I just feel he antagonised here by not doing it and really its not a big thing to take your hands out of your pocket. I know you don't have to be any stretch but for me its about setting the example π―π
His whole point was that he didn't have to. He is a police accountability activist who records the police. They know this, and they know him. This is a small town. (population 9000, and the whole county only has 15,000)
The fact is, the supreme court said in Adams v Williams, that cops can only do a Terry frisk of someone if they are suspected of a crime. He was filing a complaint against another cop and not suspected of any crime, therefore the demand and the frisk were a violation of his 4th amendment rights. Cops have been messing with him, that is why he records them always, and keeps all of his rights, no matter how small.
Thank you for you comment. I hope you check out some of my other videos. You may find them interesting.
Oh I get that, the cops are completely in the wrong! I'm just saying they will find anything the can to get in there so to have taken his hand out of his pocket would have made them look even worse as he was complying when he didn't have to. They don't have a leg to stand on here π―π
