Seems your neighbourhood is a bit dodgy if the police think they need those numbers to go in. We get the odd bit of drama around here, but rarely see a copper otherwise. I love how people make assumptions based on the local rumour mill, but may have no idea what really happened.
TBF, we have had a few drug-related shootings, but not around here. If you want the honest truth, I think we might be a bit overstaffed with armed officers, given that last time there was over twenty MP5 toting Rozzers.
Maybe they treat it as an exercise. You would hope they don't have too much real need of that much firepower. Or maybe they are after their own show on Channel 5.
Sadly, drugs have started to become a problem in the town. Unfortunately, like so many people these days, when I see a drug deal happening, which I'm seeing more and more often, I roll my eyes and walk on. I mean, who wants to get stabbed or shot by exclaiming, "What the hell do you think you're doing!"
When we first moved here, I used to joke with my wife that our worst crime was someone stealing a chicken from Sainsbury's. 30 years later, and we've had four murders (Might be more, TBH), three shootings, and stabbings are on the rise. Oh, and someone a few weeks ago deliberately drove a car into a house, ending up in the front room.
Having said all that, I still believe that our road is a kind of no-mans-land that is nice to live in. 🤷♂️
I've never noticed anyone selling drugs around here, so maybe they are more discrete. I think we hear about more crimes these days thanks to FB. We get the odd car crash from people driving like idiots through a village with lots of parked cars.
There have been some break-ins and so we are reviewing our own home security.
Once you've seen the hand actions once or twice you start to notice it more and more. It's kinda like, once you know what you're looking for........
There was a shooting near here recently and the cops came out in force. I wonder if that was related to drugs. It was at a travellers site and so won't help their reputation.
