NOT AGAIN!

in #police8 months ago

We're currently experiencing a mini heatwave here in the glorious kingdom of Britisher land. Last night, our dog Charlie was merrily making a nuisance of himself by winding up all the other dogs in their respective gardens. As I went to do my eco-friendly bit by putting an empty plastic bottle of water in our recycle bin, Charlie came running down to our side gate doing his nut and making his now famous impression of a Rottweiler, which is hysterical as he is actually two-foot nothing in stature.

Where I live is nice, but I suppose in this day and age, it's irrelevant where you live because crime doesn't care about its surroundings.

A little while ago, I posted about how we had a police siege on my road. The guy at the end of the street is a bit strange; his wife, I believe, is bedridden. I've never seen her, and we've lived here for over thirty years now. From what I've heard via gossip, the husband, who is nearly 80, loses it with his wife, sometimes violently. He also collects antique guns, so the rozzers love it because they can turn up with their Glock side arm and Heckler & Koch MP5 and stride along our Cul-de-sac like they're surrounding the Nakatomi Plaza. Oh, and just to sprinkle some seasoning into the mix, the son, who lives with them, according to the gossip, sells drugs, although I don't see that many people coming to the house, so I'm not sure.

Anyway, where was I? Oh, yeah. So I'm putting the empty bottle in the bin, and Charlie comes to the side gate barking. I hear voices on the other side of the fence. I go into my front room to look out the window and see two ambulance crews walking a guy I've never seen before down the road, and he is covered in blood! The next thing I know, two plain clothes BMWs turn up and pop out these two.

The dude in the foreground did make me laugh. He was an overweight little gunslinger wannabe as he waddled up the road with his hand on the butt of his pistol.

Eventually, we must have had twenty cops; it was like a free-for-all with sirens and blue lights flashing from the four corners of the county. Down the road were an ambulance, a paramedic estate car, riot vans, and assorted squad cars. Then came the helicopters!

There was a police one; however, the one here is an Air Ambulance. That had to land two streets away, and what a waste because no other wounded appeared. I watched for about another half an hour and got bored, to be honest. I did have a quick look outside my front door, and there was some ambulance staff outside the house I guessed where the trouble was. This morning, while walking Charlie past the now quiet crime scene, I couldn't see any blood or damaged front door, so all in all, yet another incident was blown out of proportion if you ask me.

I did, by the way, resist shouting out of the bedroom window:
(In a French accent) "You'll never take me alive, copper!"

Hope the cute little dog and the family is ok

Those cops were lucky; if I'd let Charlie out he would have taken em' 🤣 🤣 🤣

Every last one of them 😂😂😂🤔

So you will have to wait for the newest gossip to know what happened 😘

I already have, thanks to that excellent grapevine news feed that is Facebook.

Apparently, a guy (Possibly the bloke I saw covered in blood?) went to a house (most likely the one I mentioned) because he was owed money and was stabbed. One of the posters said she was consoling "The girlfriend" but didn't make it clear whose girlfriend or which house it was. I dunno, what's the world coming too?

Nobody knows what it will become 🤷‍♀️ looking back on how it has been 30 years ago, why did it change altough we lived so very well?

Because nobody says "NO!" anymore.

Now, I won't get into listing things because that will bring out all the 'Cause' zealots. But once you stop allowing a clip round the ear, for example, the only lesson that teaches us is that we can do what we like, and all that'll happen is someone will sit us down for a grown-up talk in some sickly nicey nicey voice.

A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I were at a play park with our 2-year-old grandson. Another two-year-old boy pushed him over because he was on a slide that this bully believed was his. The wife picked our grandson up, and he was fine; he carried on playing when, low and behold, the little shit reappeared, made a beeline for our grandson, and pushed him over again. The mother turned up and, in a sickly, sweet, smooth voice, said, "That's not very nice, is it?"

Who in their right mind thinks they can debate with a 2-year-old child? Voice tone is one of the primal communication tools we have. When we have done good, we're praised in a nice, warm, affectionate tone. We're told in a loud, stern voice when we're naughty! So telling a 2-year-old in a nice warm voice, "That's not very nice, is it?" all the child knows is ", Ooh, I've been a good boy; that's the same voice mum uses when I haven't pooped my nappy."

"NO!" needs to be said more. 😀

Here endith the lesson.

This makes sense, yes. Wow 2 years. Time flies, it seems like 1 year you told us about his birth

We are very naughty grandparents. We have taught him to say "Nanny" in a very nice, sweet voice and "GRANDAD!" in a sort of telling-off voice, mainly because I'm always being told off. 🤣

But that's not the funniest part; he's saying "GRANDAD!" at his other grandparent's house, and they're confused as hell why. Bwhahaha

So arsh seeing cops in the neighborhood must be a weird moment.

Sadly, it's the second time in about three years with that house. Everyone's attitude in the street is the same as the title of this piece "Tsk! Not again!"

Seems your neighbourhood is a bit dodgy if the police think they need those numbers to go in. We get the odd bit of drama around here, but rarely see a copper otherwise. I love how people make assumptions based on the local rumour mill, but may have no idea what really happened.

TBF, we have had a few drug-related shootings, but not around here. If you want the honest truth, I think we might be a bit overstaffed with armed officers, given that last time there was over twenty MP5 toting Rozzers.

Maybe they treat it as an exercise. You would hope they don't have too much real need of that much firepower. Or maybe they are after their own show on Channel 5.

Sadly, drugs have started to become a problem in the town. Unfortunately, like so many people these days, when I see a drug deal happening, which I'm seeing more and more often, I roll my eyes and walk on. I mean, who wants to get stabbed or shot by exclaiming, "What the hell do you think you're doing!"

When we first moved here, I used to joke with my wife that our worst crime was someone stealing a chicken from Sainsbury's. 30 years later, and we've had four murders (Might be more, TBH), three shootings, and stabbings are on the rise. Oh, and someone a few weeks ago deliberately drove a car into a house, ending up in the front room.

Having said all that, I still believe that our road is a kind of no-mans-land that is nice to live in. 🤷‍♂️

I've never noticed anyone selling drugs around here, so maybe they are more discrete. I think we hear about more crimes these days thanks to FB. We get the odd car crash from people driving like idiots through a village with lots of parked cars.

There have been some break-ins and so we are reviewing our own home security.

Once you've seen the hand actions once or twice you start to notice it more and more. It's kinda like, once you know what you're looking for........

There was a shooting near here recently and the cops came out in force. I wonder if that was related to drugs. It was at a travellers site and so won't help their reputation.
