In these pokemon go days everybody wonder on how to be able to catch that rear and cool pokemon, how do you find it when it pops on that nearby grid in lower right corner.
Today there are some different strategies!
First strategy
Basically makes you guess and walk in perpendicular directions to see how the pokemon moves around on the grid. The closest pokemon is in the upper left corner. This strategy is described closer here: How nearby tracking works in pokemon go
Second strategy
There has now been developed an app that can assist you with this special tracking, get it on google play store, its called poke tracker. This app uses the same ideas behind strategy one, but combines the diagagram made by DJ Toaster on reddit. These things combined helps you figure out where to go to get that rare pokemon.
Third strategy
Lastly there have been alot of articles and information that pokemon geopoints are based on Ingress points, and this is very true. So another player have speculated that maybe they have used even more information from Ingress.
What he figured out was basically that in ingress you are suppose to collect something called XM, lying around. These things have special spawing areas. So he figured out that by using the more dense XM areas from opening the ingress app and finding a area nearby, he had a much higher hit percentage of finding pokemons.
So basically, Pokemon Go also rely on the XM spawning areas of ingress, as for now. Read the more detailed post by SkyriderRJM on reddit.
Good luck hunting!
