RE: 30 Day Poetry Challenge :: Day 9 :: Forgotten Stories

This is beautiful. Despite the poet persona's disconnection with her family and her roots, they still thrive within her. I loved these lines

"and if I am really quiet
when planting my radishes
or knitting a hat
or stringing red chili peppers,
I can hear them drumming.
And if I am really joyful
when dancing circles around my dog
or playing pattycake with a friend
or walking in the woods with a lover,.."

In the midst of mundane, ordinary everyday things, you still find connections with your ancestors. Great lines, lovely poem.

It is like finding home within yourself. Finding the people you thought you've lost are still singing you a lullaby and smiling from corners and wishing you well
