Back when our feet hurried off
We ran as we wanted to reach the mountain top
Gone are the days of fun
I remember we would run
Not from the troubles of adolescence
Or the stresses of adulthood
But toward adventures and all that was good
I remember how easy it was
Why were we always laughing
In that friendship, we were fearless
Even the shadows were nothing
We paid no mind to consequence
We relished in our youths innocence
Oh how I miss those days
Now that we on our way
to our hairs turning gray
Our knees would be shaking
As we provoked the pitbull as he was sleeping
We never feared the bite
We never yelled as we ran
We laughed as we took flight
We never feared as we climbed the tall tree
It was the adventure we cared about
And what we would see
Now our years have caught up with us
And that our bones have rusted
And as I sit and reminisce on our past my friend
I'm glad we never tried to live too wise
I'm glad we never tried to be right
I'm glad we never fled from snakes and fears
Cause we would have hated ourselves in the end
