The Road

I’ve walked these streets before
kicking memories off of this cobble stone path.
My memories? Your memories?
It’s all the same to me.

Nobody is in sight but,
I know I’m not the only one walking.
Some kick harder as their self-loathing
takes control.

Through the overgrowth,
straying from the path,
nothing in my life seems to keep me straight;
it’s something that I can’t control and learned to hate.

Pricking my hands, I move on
leaving a trail of blood for others to follow.
Light?
Is that even possible in this place?

Brilliant, Illumination.
I feel the warmth kiss my cheek.
Just a moment and it was gone.
Replaced by a man, down trodden he walks on.

Frozen in thought,
an uneasy feeling tacked to my skin,
I look in all directions, onward I strode;
there’s nothing left to do but join my brethren and walk this empty road.

Hello everyone!

I'm an aspiring writer that has decided to get out there and share my creations. I'd like to hear what you think about my work so that I can improve. What did you like? What didn't you like?

For poems I'd like to hear everyones interpretation. Let's talk about it :)

@pltorres You Are Doing Great on Steemit ! hope for your Success.

I just loved it! really! keep doing this. Don't worry if you don't get nothing for this, it's just how it works at the beginning, Steemit it's a gift you get with hard work and creativity.

Thank you. I'll keep working on it. I might take a break from writing though and try doing a few posts about my other hobbies (like music) so that I don't get burnt out trying to write everyday. I'm a bit lazy.

I love it!! I am sorry that I can't upvote you, I have to wait for my voting power to recover, like almost every newcomer, I spent it too fast.

But I am resteeming it and I strongly trust that there is not a better platform for an aspiring writer than Steemit!! It will take some extra effort at the beginning, but you surely know the saying, nothing worth having comes easily ;-)

Thank you! I've seen lots of writers getting hundreds of views. I hope to get to that level one day, it's discouraging to write something and it just gets buried by other posts.

I wish that this site had notifications when someone leaves comments so I wouldn't have to check so often. Or maybe it does already but I haven't figured out where they are.

Anyways, I didn't even know that someone can run out of upvotes.

Grrrrr, the last thing to do is to get discouraged... do not even dare to go there!!
Find yourself some mentor, someone to follow and learn from. There are many, many good Steemians that already have knowledge and experience but who are still hungry for new friends and followers. I think it will be best for you to find other writers, contact them by comments and directly ask for help and guidance. You will find out that majority of Steemians are extra nice and supporting.

Also, there are many special support groups, sites, apps, boots, everything!
Please look for example at this one:
https://steemit.com/minnowsupportproject/@discordiant/registration-tutorial-msp-palnet

I haven't registered there yet, but I surely will.

Of course, there are plenty of ways to see everything and more what is going on in your Steemit account,
for example on this site here: https://steemd.com/@pltorres
and this is just a tip of an iceberg.

As to me, besides the friendly and knowledgeable guidance from newly met friends, such as from @mariannewest and @orlandoj, I found the articles from one of the new Steemit witnesses, @jerrybanfield, extremely thorough and practical. I think you too will benefit from reading his new Steem Guide: https://steemit.com/guide/@jerrybanfield/introducing-steem-guide

I just uncovered Jerry's posts last night, (couldn't stop reading till late at night), and I am sure that there are many, many more articles and many, many more authors still waiting for me to be found.

So, I wish you happy finding too and happy reading, and happy learning and happy growing as a Steemit author.

(now I go to my intro post and finally reply to your comment there, especially your question about JSE coin ;-)
