Original Poem - Suicide Generation

in #poetry7 years ago (edited)

Discomfort ... "How are you?" ... "I am fine". Why do we do this? Why does it never go deeper than that? Why do we never greet out neighbors or those we ride the elevator with? Anyway, this quite sarcastic poem is about just that.
Please share your thoughts :) I'm new here and reaching people with my poetry is a dream!

We Are The Casually Suicidal. . .

Discomfort. There is no time for the “maladjusted”

Don’t you know that we can’t just let little girls be angry?
And little boys may never cry.
It makes others uncomfortable. Discomfort drives people apart.
They ought to just keep it all inside and let it manifest into whatever dark and ugly thing it must.
Besides, you’ve always known what I think about people who dwell on suicide:
let them do it; they’re weak and we’re better off without them.

I hear they go straight to hell anyway.

There is nothing beautiful about the broad array of human emotions.
There is nothing beautiful about reaching the depths of despair and hopelessness.
Dare not let this be part of your existence. After all, when were we taught how to deal with this...thing?
You see friend, you shouldn’t experience life with all the beauty and darkness that come with it.
Weren’t you told how wrong that is?

So, overshare online if you really must, but never share in person.
Cover everything with light and humour.
Do not ask me how my demons are. Do not share yours.

Avoid discomfort.
This is the world we live in.
We are the casually suicidal.

THANKS... :)

This seems like a piece that could be heard at a poetry slam, very sarcastic and rhetorical ;)

O.k.
First off, i love your bio. Deep and funny😂😂
About this piece, it's strong...like very strong. Your choice of words aren't cliche, your tone isn't light, yout ideas are very realistic.
This isn't some "I see the sunset in your eyes" kinda poem.
I so agree with the comment that observed that this should be in a poetry slam.
Good job.
