I look upon the seasons as almost living entities. Winter is angry and bitter, Spring is feminine and warm, Summer is loud and boisterous while Autumn is aged and wise.
Each battle for its time in the year, its few months to reign supreme. On a recent walk, I was inspired to pen my first poem in a long while. I hope you like it.
Winter beats his wild winds against the resisting earth
His snows smother the emerging life
His ice freezes the newborn
Trying to retain his frigid rule
Spring, rocked by Winters ferocity
Bows her head against the storm
Her strong quiet defiance
Brings hope to her children
The patience of Spring prevails
Winters clouds break
Warmth and light return
Growth begins again in the young
But Winter will not relent easily
His frozen fingers desperately cling
As he hides from Spring
Shunning the sun in shadowed hollows
Her strength increases by the day
Winter will have to give way
And accept defeat.
Unaware that he just rests
Gathering his strength and rage
Ready to unleash on the earth once more.
