Dekaaz is a succinct form of poetry that was introduced to me by Rachel Bagby, who is honored in the photograph shown here.
The form is a total of 10 syllables. Two syllables in the first line; three in the second; and five in the third. Have fun playing with it yourself and enjoy my offerings below. :)
I’ve come
for one thing,
to entertain God.
Ranging
emotions
play the scale of life.
Tension
resolving
brings a sense of ease.
The play
is divine,
knowing you can leave.
Try to
rearrange
what passes through hands.
Transcend
seeing self,
to simply seeing.
Without
fake I.D.,
walk past the gate check.
