This poem was inspired by @hartfloe, a fellow poet who is taking this 100 day journey along with me. The first three lines of this poem were taken from his day 5 entry - Every Flower Blooms at the Perfect Moment. I edited them slightly to fit my rhythm but they were used with his permission. Drop by his blog if you get the chance. I’m sure you’ll find a more current entry that you’ll enjoy and can upvote.
Try in vain to flee
But never try hard enough
To only just break free
It never comes easy
Fight or flight it seems
Are the portions on your plate
But far beyond your dreams
You see the quiet streams
You may choose to fight
But the battle’s long been lost
Cause even if you’re right
Force never can be light
Where are you to flee
When the war starts from within
You’ll always bow the knee
Cause SYSTEM’s hard to see
Shackled hands and feet
Truth that needs to be unveiled
Backspace and hit delete
March to a different beat
Nothing’s left to fear
You are standing on your own
The quiet streams appear
You broke out free and clear
