THE FRINGE (An Original Poem)

in #poetry8 years ago (edited)

Everything flies
away from this
Earth eventually

a finite succession
of crystalline
moments in time
are all that we
really have here

choices allow us
to shape each
moment before
they are frozen in form

in this moment
I choose
to be grateful,
happy, and to
be kind to you

I will never understand
your struggles and, mine,
you may never know,

not hollow kindness
born of pity, from
some bleeding heart,
but honest kindness
that comes from a place
of solemn respect

deep admiration
for a fellow traveler
whose twisted path
will eventually lead
them to the fringe
of very same Truth.

Your poetry is getting more and more in synch with my being and our oneness. It is a simple blissful pleasure and gratefulness arises in smiles. Thank you for your sharing, namaste :)

Thank you, Sir! Your comments are always appreciated. We seem to be very much on the same wavelength. Namaste!

I really love this poem @ericvancewalton! However, don't you think that to reach that one Truth we sometimes have to be just, but not kind? And that is even harded on so many occasions :)

Thank you, @writingamigo! I think justness can be the ultimate form of kindness (tough love). If we are honest and just then it allows others to learn their lessons more quickly. It took me decades to come to this realization.

This poem seems to be reflective of your pay it forward project - the contrast between the person with hollow kindness and the other with honest kindness....the shallow vs the sincere...I hope I got the gist of your message.

You are spot on @countrygirl! Thank you so much for reading and commenting!

we form our identity through choices we make -okay. The unforgiving moments I see flowing away from us like Heraclitus' stream, and you see them flying off into space. But we can't get them back, and that's the point. You can't fly like Superman faster than light into space and recover them, and I can't step into the same stream twice. We have only now to decide how to spend our moments. It's not a bad thing to choose to be kind :)

So true @johngeddes! Being in middle age I see the truth in the quote "Youth is wasted on the young." When you get to be this age you see time slipping by ever faster and really come to know how valuable it is. That's a hard thing to understand until you feel it slipping away, then you realize how important each decision is.

You kept me reading again! Not many people can, so kudos! I hope you'll check out my latest 45 minute attempt at art in it's entirety. It's a my first non-poem in almost a year.

Thanks, @indigowaltz! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll stop by your page later today.
