winds brush across
your face like some
soft, tactile lullaby,
sweeping each worry
from your brow.
in life
there's no way
we can know
the why's or the how's.
remember,
the Universe
created this very
moment for you
to grow towards
a place you
cannot yet see,
but to a place
where you
are destined to be.
of us is to
surrender to the subtle shift,
run towards the things
that ignite our fire,
be open
to their many gifts,
and then bow
in deep gratitude.
Poetry should move us, it should change us, it should glitch our brains, shift our moods to another frequency. Poetry should evoke feelings of melancholy, whimsy, it should remind us what it feels like to be in love, or cause us to think about something in a completely different way. I view poetry, and all art really, as a temporary and fragile bridge between our world and a more pure and refined one. This is a world we could bring into creation if enough of us believed in it. This book is ephemera, destined to end up forgotten, lingering on some dusty shelf or tucked away in a dark attic. Yet the words, they will live on in memory. I hope these words become a part of you, bubble up into your memory when you least expect them to and make you feel a little more alive.

Most of us have experienced a moment of perfect peace at least once in our lives. In these moments we lose ourselves and feel connected to everything. I call these mindful moments. Words can’t describe how complete they make us feel.
These moments are usually fragile, evaporating in seconds. What if there was a way to train your mind to experience more of them? It’s deceptively easy and requires nothing more than a subtle shift in mindset. My new book, Mindful Moments, will teach you to be much more content despite the chaos and imperfect circumstances continuing to unfold around you. This poem guides how one should behave in this life wisely and wisely. Good poetry. Have a nice day, Eric.
Thank you Eliana! I hope you had a great weekend!
It's the gratitude that makes our life worthwhile, not just in words, but in acts as well. It's gratitude that makes mankind integrated and enables them to reciprocate with each other eternally. It's the gratitude that makes us tender, deep and down to earth. I think it's the token of engagement. Thank you.
These days I was reading about reincarnation and I was surprised to read that before we are born, we ourselves choose everything we live. Every trial, every sadness, every obstacle, leads us to "climb" positions in heaven. There is nothing that happens to us that is not written. Surely if you had been told in the past that you would write and that you would be read by many people around the world, surely you would not have believed it. Let the days flow: everything on earth has its time and its rhythm, we just have to be open not to miss the wonders that are born in front of our eyes every day. Beautiful poem, my friend. A hug for you, @ericvancewalton
Thank you Nancy. I've heard that theory about reincarnation too. Interesting concept, isn't it? I do believe this Earth and this life is a schoolhouse and how fitting that we would choose how we receive our lessons beforehand. I never, in a million years, would have believed that my writing career would have blossomed the way it has. So many times throughout my journey I thought it would only be a hobby but I kept pushing and eventually the door opened. I will never stop being grateful that it happened. On this side of "success" I've now struggled with the REASONS I write. I can see that earlier in my career, to some degree, it was for attention/money but now I feel like I've grown beyond that. It's actually the creation part of the process that brings me the most joy. Thanks again for your comment, Nancy, and have a great weekend!
Awesome stuff! Do you ever wonder if poems should come with a cheat sheet letting you know if there is going to be rhyming ahead of time or not? I was thrown a bit on this one thinking it was going one way technically but then going another. Perhaps it is best just letting people figure it out as they go!
Thank you! I like to experiment a little with styles sometimes, let the poem develop naturally outside of technical boundaries. When I reread this one I had to read it through a few times to develop the verbal cadence.
How are you dear friend @ericvancewalton good day
What a beautiful composition, it is what I like about life, that we do not know what awaits us tomorrow, but surely it will be something that is already destined
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid afternoon
All is well with us. How are you all this week? Thank you my friend, it's always good to hear from you. Enjoy the rest of your week!
Isn't that the truth! Allowing to trust those instincts has given me the ability to run straight into the sunshine!
Masterful piece. Hi, Eric! @ericvancewalton
Hey Denise! Isn't it great to be able to do this? Serendipity is almost always on the other side. Thank you very much!
Hi, Eric! It is and first time through, I was dancing with it. Some hit you just perfectly.
Thank you.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! When we learn to be open in life each moment can be a little adventure. I hope you have a good weekend, Denise! It's getting chilly here.
As they used to say, God's ways are mysterious.
Yes Sir, they certainly are!
I appreciate this lovely poem with so much meaningful words and amazing lines to learn from.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
A kind word and a sincere expression on the face may be the secret of a person's happiness after long suffering and depression. The simplest things can bring happiness, which some see it as something special that not everyone has.
Can we all be happy at the same time? The method is easy but unrealistic and will not be achieved, simply we must love and want the good for each other.
I believe, to a certain degree, an individual can be happy almost any time he/she choses to be. That might sound overly simplistic but there are many who are showered with abundance yet they are miserable and some who are happy in the midst of struggle and suffering.
It is a beautiful poem and the reflection on what a poem should convey seems to me to be very accurate. Reading it should move your soul. Greetings @ericvancewalton.
So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you!
How beautiful to rush towards the things you love in life that have a warmth that makes your feelings burning longing for every beautiful moment.
Each line of the poem is deep and meaningful
Keep up the good work brother

All it requires of us is also to leave our comfort zone and run towards to our dreams.
It does! Leaving that comfort zone can be the most difficult thing we can do but it is worth every effort.
The beauty of poetry is enormous and I love the way it helps me to calm my nerves when in times of difficulty.
Unique 🤍
A good poem, that used nature in it expression to send a very important message,
