Love.
It's everywhere,
yet nowhere.
Our lives revolve
around so much,
but so little holds
real meaning.
A smile here,
a present there.
Trinkets pile up,
taking over everything
and nothing means
what it used to.
Presents are not
the same as presence and
words cannot
overpower actions.
We have no love,
but we have too much
stuff.
It takes over
our lives.
We distract ourselves
anyway we can
when sometimes
we just need to declutter.
The dishes need to be done,
toys need to be put away.
We throw stuff in the garbage
without even thinking
of our impact
to the world around us.
The oceans and forests
are dying from refuse.
Relationships are dying
from our lack of intimacy.
We need less stuff
and we need more
love.
