The Quiet Tree

in #poetry7 years ago

There is no justice.
You are free to choose,
But you are not free.
Dynastic power manipulates
Our beautiful world,
Corrupting what could be.
I’m sick of superficial civility,
I’m sick of powerful elite,
I’m sick of insatiable avarice
Burning flesh from human beings.
There is no justice,
There never has been,
There never will be.
I’m a strong man, but
There’s a heaviness
Upon my chest and shoulders
Making it difficult to breathe.
I want for a gentle humanity,
I want for the quiet tree.

Beautiful tree and poem..i relate to it a lot. I love trees.

Thank you kindly.

You are most welcome.

I like the lines "You are free to choose, but you are not free."

It reminds me of something I heard about human psychology once (I think in reference to children and employees haha) that being given an actual choice is not important, but that the appearance of choice is what makes people feel more willing to comply. Instead of asking "Do you want to wear a coat," for example, you'd say "Do you want to wear the red coat or the blue coat?" Interesting stuff! I think it also applies to bigger ideas. Little bit of a tangent haha. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks :)
