Bound by a Root
About the poem-
Life isn't fair, some people are born with distinct disadvantages, they carry the sins of their mothers and fathers. My poem is about such a person and their struggle to understand and overcome.
Predestined to Choose for Herself
Loneliness, self-loathing, despair,
words seldom spoken yet written
on small scraps of paper
before she was born;
like genetics she calls it
inheritance
but not her self-worth.
Her value she writes in a poem
with edits and cross outs,
a striving for truth
until the day that she dies.
We get life based on our 'karma'. Nice poem thanks.
You are welcome.
Great poem...it makes me realize how unfair life can be sometimes
True, and the struggle to overcome.
A search to find truth; a search to find peace. From that which came before. This poem resonates with me. You have a way with words. Truly inspiring.
Thanks I'm glad it made a connection.
Yes, over the years I've learned that there is no such thing as "fair". That's the cry of a child. The trick is to let go the expectation. Another remarkable poem!
Thanks much appreciated.
I hope she finds herself before she dies.
Or at least gets her poem finished
