Poem titled : THE CRY OF AN AFRICAN CHILD

in #poetry6 years ago

There once be a converge
Of a great like minds
On nature they lived
And on earth they fed
Well cultured they made
Before they intrude

As if it wasn't enough
Made a generation curse !
Left a guard as
The neo of my land
Become a mess to
My mercy
With a woody heart
They care not
With a deafened ear
My cry they hear not

Who am i to cry?
I am African !
A child of the soil
My soul ought not toil
But see, beneath am boil
For what is my need?
When am of the seed
Bear me the need right
I am African !

A future leader i claimed
But where lies my aims?
All lost in dam
Education aids
What and what do i
Need to claim?
The sector astray
All faded away

Where lies my hope ?
All tangled on rope
Open the door for lope
And make me escape
On me, an invisible chain
Only to follow a lane
Am sick of being a lame

What crime have i committed?
Because am an African?
Yes, for i will always be
My father's father and
My mother's mother are
Proud to be
In blood i swim and
Bones are strong
May my day not be bonded
For am only but a child
Hear out my cry!FB_IMG_1557508553615.jpg

There has always been this deep routed idea of africa being a place of sadness and exploitation and it has, children here have suffered. I see it every day but its also shaped us African's, created cultures and ideals you won't find anywhere else in the world

I honestly have never seen happier people than in Africa, it doesn't take much for us to be happy and have a ball but it takes a lot to get us down. We are a resilient bunch I can tell you that much

I believe you can have success everywhere and your mind is your best ally to succeed in any conditions or territory.

Hey man!

That image that you placed at the end made me shudder and cry.
Too much for me.

PS: great denouncement as poetry.

Why using that picture? Africans are strong people. They are found every where. They are warriors and sold their own people and neighbors as slaves, long after slavery was forbidden. They still abuse their own children to beg, scam, etc.

You can envy others, blame others, or start building your own life.

Those words sound too strong and raw. In fact I consider them degrading and maybe even defamatory.Hey dear @wakeupkitty.

I do not know many aspects of life in Africa, but I think that generalizing is never the best way to proceed.

I understand that the human being arrives at improbable behaviors. Once I found out about a population in India where polio cases abound. So these people are the ones chosen to smuggle gasoline or something like that. In other words, their physical condition is exploited for dishonest purposes. Not for this reason can we "label" all the citizens of India.

In Venezuela, more and more atrocious crimes occur. We see cases where the Venezuelans themselves exploit and obtain profit from the misery of their brothers. But not all Venezuelans are like that.

I'm sure you understand my point.

I appreciate you.

I understand your point but I am sure you understand my point too if I tell you I offered several young people to buy them a piece of ground to work on. Their answer: working on the ground is for old people.

Next I offered to buy them a shop to make an income. I even was willing to transport a good quality of clothes. Their answer: it is something for elderly people (but they do envy the people from India who work hard and own the shops and pharmacies).

Their were only 2 things they wanted:

  1. a car
  2. To marry to get a visa to Europe.

Thanks for reading the post...Oh!! Am sorry friend @juanmolina

"Where lies my hope ?
All tangled on rope"

This is very powerful imagery. I could see tangled groups being a good metaphor for the Hope you're speaking about. The twists and turns you're never sure if you're at the beginning or the end, and there are many knots that need to be untied...

Powerful stuff.
Thank you for opening up and sharing like this.

I appreciate your effort in going through the poem. Thanks friend @jacuzzi

Dear @adewararilwan

A child who is already a man and his future is now.

They are cries of poetry in the very near past that can be changed for the better and break with those chains.

Excellent poem friend.

Greetings from Venezuela a country that has 20 years shouting freedom

Regards! Thanks for the comment my good friend @lanzjoseg

Ever been in Africa? I was. There is future, but many feel to good to work on the land. They dump their wives, abuse tourists. After ages of help they still are not able to build their lives. The women are hard workers, many men hang around.

As long as you see yourself as different you are different.
As long as you behave as a victim you are a victim.
What makes the African child think I had hope as a child? Hoped for something?
What makes the African child thinks my children have hope?
They have not.
Child of the soil, live with the soil. With Mother Nature and be independent.
In the end, you are the only one who survives and has hope.

Human Beings go through from the roughest phases. But definitely one day the ultimate brighter days will arrive. Stay blessed.@adewararilwan, Most precious

In that poem I sense the 500 years of painful history endured by people of African descent on all sides of the Atlantic, but also the creativity and resilience, of which stream I am both part and parcel, a descendant of Africa in North America, descendant of the strong who survived slavery, including those chains which you pictured. I feel the sadness, but am also moved to even greater resolve to bear up the great legacy of creativity and resilience.
